After the storm

:: After a very long night and no sleep, Alexis was finally ready for a very long day at work. Walking out of her bedroom, Athena trotted behind her knowing Alexis was heading to the kitchen to feed her beloved pooch. Her eyes traveled towards the large floor to ceiling windows overlooking Manhattan..such a beautiful day--hopefully better than the later half of her night had been. Making her way passed the livingroom and into her kitchen, Alexis untied the bow that held together her pastel pink jacket and slipped it off not wanting to get dog food on it. Her outfit contrary to yesterday's was very "plain"...covering her entire body and being of knee length. Although the outfit was Dolce and Gabanna and still very sexy compaired to most woman's buisness suites, it was the plainer of the bunch in Alexis' closet. Bending down, she opened up one of the larger cabinets under her island revealing shelves and shelves of Pedigree canned dog food. On an average day Athena could eat anywhere from ten cans of food a day...she was afterall a big dog. (And i'm not kidding lol). Taking about five cans of food out from the cabinet, she glanced over at Athena seeing her begin to dance in anticipation. Laughing, she finally stood, closing the cabinets on her way up. ::

"Calm down you pig.."

:: Smiling, Athena barked as Alexis began to pop open the cans of dog food. Walking over to the other end of the kitchen to grab her bowl, Athena took it upon herself to jump up on the counter...which wasn't much of a jump, and start licking the can. Turning around, Alexis began to crack up, making her way over to her dog. ::

"What are you doing! Get down...i'm almost done."

:: Giggling, Athena was almost eye to eye with Alexis standing on her hind legs. She was a massive dog..but thats what Alexis liked. None of those prissy little poodle types, but a dog you can really hug. Gently pushing Athena off the counter, Alexis soon scooped all the food into Athena's bowl and headed over to where her water bowl was to place the food next to it. Dancing behind in in excitment, the moment Alexis placed the food down, Athena slid infront of the bowl and began to chow down like that was the only food left on the face of the Earth. Smiling, Alexis rolled her eyes and shook her head, patting Athena's behind before she turned around and headed back to the island in her kitchen. Picking up her cell phone, Alexis hit speed dial 1 and placed the phone up to her ear. Holding the phone up against her ear with her shoulder, Alexis began to clean up the cans and place them in the trash. ::

"Tracy, I want a Starbucks Grande Vanilla Cappachino with half and half milk and a blueberry muffin on my desk by the time I get to work. Understand."

:: Grabbing the phone with her hand once more, she rolled her eyes at Tracy's comments on how the closest Starbucks was 15 blocks away from the Tempo headquarters because the one in the lobby of Tempo is closed for construction. Walking passed Athena as she headed out of the kitchen, she patted her companion once again on the back, before heading to the front door. Sighing out of annoyence, Alexis grabbed her camel colored Fendi bag off the table and paused for a moment. ::

"I don't care if the closest Starbucks is across the bridge in New Jersey. I want my coffee and muffin. And I want it by the time I get to my desk. You have fifteen minutes."

:: Closing her phone, Alexis placed it into her purse and zipped it up, sighing once again. Picking up her keys, she opened her apartment door and stepped out into the hall. ::

"I swear...after next weeks deadline, i'm searching for a new assistant..."

:: Closing the door, she placed the key into the key hole and locked the apartment door. Turning around, she began to walk down the hall to the express elevator. ::

"..one who surpasses the brain capacity of a pea."

:: Pushing the down button, Alexis awaited for the elevator to come and up and get her. ::

"It is nice to finally meet you, Mrs. Vaughn. Its a beautiful day." The man surprisingly spoke english-- without an accent.

"Mr. Frederik... it's nice to see you too. I would love to admire the scenery... but this must be quick. You have the intel?"

Frederick frowned, and then went into his suitcase and pulled out a manilla folder. Haleigh set the metal case on the picnic table and unclasped it. There was a hell of a lot of money neatly packed into the case, and Frederick checked a few stacks, handing the packet over to Haleigh. Haleigh looked briefly at the pages inside. She slid the intel back into the folder as the man closed the case and smiled guiltily.

Frederik-"I feel a pang of shame... betraying my country.... I wonder if the value we agreed on is enough."

"Having second thoughts? In your hands is enough money for you, your wife, and the next THREE generations of your bloodline to live quite comfortably. Besides... YOU are a man of no country... and even if you WERE.... its not like this is something you haven't done before."

Frederik-"I'm afraid I have no idea what you are refering to, Mrs Vaughn. And My wife died two years ago.... I have no children. Sometimes I wonder if any amount of moeny will do me any good. Sometimes I wish to simply be put out of my misery."

Haleigh chuckled, she looked at Blaze and then back to Frederik. She reaches under her coat and pulls out her gun. She pulls the slide back to load the chamber and holds it out to Blaze, grinning. "Well... That can be arranged. Here Ace... end his suffering." Frederik was taken aback, but knew enough not to show it. Not wanting to seem skittish... he cracked a smile and played along.

Frederik-"Sure.... go ahead. Why Not."

** Blaze continued to scan the picnic area for any sign of intruders. It was obvious she had Haleigh's back in case things got hectic. Shivering slightly at the colder temperature's here, she purposely blew her breath into the air. In need of a cigarette, Blaze peeled back her trench coat, reaching inside for a cigarette. Placing between her lips, she turned to the tree behind her and striking her fingernail over it. Catching her nail on fire, lighting her cig until she blew out the small flame. Inhaling once, she tilted her head to the side, blowing free smoke from her lips. Her appearance was rather unmoving, she seemed more like a body guard then just a friend. Listening to Hals and her contact converse when she raised an eyebrow. In her line of work, it was never good to be ever greedy with what you were given. Noticing Hal's glance at her and then her contact, Blaze knew she was up to something, but what? Her answer would be arriving a minute later. **

"Put him out of his misery? Well, if you insist."

** Without any hesitation, Blaze scooped up the gun in Haleigh's hands. Smoke surrounding her as she outstretched her left hand. Taking her cigarette out with her right hand, she skillfully flicked it away. Hitting the ground, the fire vanished, thanks to Blaze. Wrapping her right hand around her left hand, she stared at him for a bit. Her adrenaline bumped, it had been a while since she handled a gun but it felt intensely good. Tilting her head to the side, Blaze smirked. **

** Her actions were quiet when her index finger began to apply pressure to the trigger. Suddenly she pressed it, as the sound of a trigger was heard. It was obvious this was probably some sort of test, but Blaze didn't realize this. Her killer instincts were still there and what was worse, she was enjoying this. It was proven in her sage green eyes, which gleamed with delight. **

The crack that was usually associated with gunfire didn't come. Instead, a quiet 'flit' emitted as the bullet fired. The gun was equipped with a silencer, and it must have been state of the art... for its wasnt the customary cylindrical suppressor, but a two inch extention of the barrel... so that it simply looked like the end of the barrel. Frederik's face registered shock, and the older man fell back onto the picnic table and bench, clutching his right upper chest. Haleigh merely smiled.

Frederik-"You bitch! You SHOT me!"

"Way to state the obvious, Johnson. You still got it, Ace. My turn." Haleigh gently took the gun back from Blaze. She smiled and winked, then turned back on the man whos blood was staining his expensive white business shirt.

Frederik-"Wait a minute... what did you call me? How do you know my name?"

"Oh... you know mine too, Sir. I really am sorry about your wife. Sharon was a geniunely nice person. She deserved better. All these years... I've just wanted to ask... how could you do it? We TRUSTED you, you son of a bitch. Jimmy, Eric and David DIED... Cass and I will NEVER be the same. We didn't deserve that. You, however... you got your money... you got your relocation and your scotch-free way out of the Navy.... and NOW... you're going to get what you deserve, you fucking coward." Haleigh leaned over the man... she pressed the muzzle against his heart.

Frederik-"Davidoff.... Haleigh! It isn't possible... I spoke at your funeral!"

"Yes... and in spite of myself... it was a very beautiful speech."

Frederik-"You're psychotic..."

"Perhaps... yet still.... I'm better off than you.... you're DEAD." The man tried to plead with her to have mercy.... but Haleigh fired into his chest without blinking, and then once again point-blank in the forehead for good measure. Haleigh looked up at blaze, expressionless. She tucked the 22 back into its holster and reached across the man to put the envelope inside the metal briefcase and reclasp it, lifting it from the table easily. She narrowed her eyes and pulled softly on her earlobe. She took a few steps to the left and then three forward and stopped. She tapped into the local radiowaves and mentally cycled to the appropriate frequency.

"Phoenix to Base." She waited before continuing. "Yeah, I need a cleaner. One deceased. And Instant transport, Two souls. Affirmative. No, minimal mess. Two females, one package. Two vehicles.... they can be returned to the Zurich station. .... We'll be here." Haleigh looked at her watch. 10:59. And Time to Spare, she thought. she looked up, giving Blaze a soft smile, walking back over near here.

"You doing alright? You did a great job Ace. You watched my six, you kept your cool, you did what I requested without questioning me... If only I had more people in the field like you. Morgan's going to want to kill me for even considering this... but I want you to take your time with this... I'd like you to return to the business. Work for me. I don't know what your doing as Senior Ad Campaign Manager. Its noble, but its ludacris. People like you and me... we belong in THIS business. I tried to do that civilian thing with Liquid Crystal Images. I love photography... but all I could EVER think about was CI, getting it up and running and constructing the HQ beneath LCI.... This makes me happy, as fucked up as it is. It makes YOU happy too, I can tell. Just think about. no answer now... sleep on it. In the meantime... lets get you back to New York before Cameron has a meltdown and Morgan puts a hit out on me. Here's our Ride."

A Tall, mid-twenties man appeared out of thin air, and so did an older, late thirties man. the late thirties man turned to the body of Frederik... the younger man walked over to Haleigh and Blaze and extended a hand. Haleigh, briefcase in one hand, took one of his hands with her other.

"Lobby floor Ladies room, Parthenon Hotel, New York, New York."

As Soon as Blaze took the man's hand, the three were off.

** Smoke blew softly off Blaze's gun, who stood over Haleigh's contact with a look of a predatory animal. She didn't speak anything, which seemed to make it worse. Scanning him over with her eyes for any sort of weapon. Handing the gun back to Hal's when she ended the torment, putting her contact out of his miery. Not even blinking, Fox calmly locked eyes at Hal who offered her a position. **

"I accept your offer, I don't need time. Working in a stuffy office isn't for me. I can be replaced."

** She grinned when she turned to see another man approach. Taking his hand firmly, she shook it. In that split second they were gone. **
