Election Day!! Please Vote!!!

[Rampage]

Hey, this is the one and only Rampage. I normally do not create new threads but this topic is very dear to me. I would encourage everyone who is registered to vote today, let your voice be heard. I am not speaking on a partisan level, I simply think it is important for all of us to exercise the rights for which so many have died. Feel free of course to holla back with any comments or questions...

Because i was moving to Tennessee, i did an absentee ballot in Michigan so i could vote for the candidates and issues i knew and cared about...plus i wouldnt have been able to register to vote in time down here in Tennessee.

speaking of Election Day, America is the worlds ultimate irony (and current laughing stock) ....this is a country that touts democracy and equality and yet other countries around world look at us as we have elections that are plagued with problems, fraudulent and more. Need examples? look at what happened in Florida in 2000 or Ohio in 2004

EVERYONE needs to be mindfull when you go to the polls and dont be afraid to question what the poll workers tell you.

for example: i was once told that if i voted a straight party ticket (all democrat or all republican) that my votes would be null and void...but what was funny was that the people were only telling that to voters who were registered as democratic party members..NOT republican party members.

there have been incidents of "representatives" calling constituents and would be voters and DELIBERATELY misleading them on when/where to vote in order to tip elections. it sounds outrageous..but its true.

Voted this Morning. I was dismayed at the lack of young people where I went. Then Virginia had the nerve to have a bill to ammend the state constitution to ban gay marriage. I vote No. I get so tired of these religious nuts, thinking they should legislate their beliefs on other people.

Either way, I just wished more young people would get out to vote.

so far, in the races for HOUSE and GOVERNER positions, the democrats have the advantage (as much as an 11 point lead over all) but for the SENATE seats...the GOP is ahead by like 7 points...thats what i just read on the election map on yahoo.com

I voted today, and it payed off. Each democrat that ran in Pennsylvania won. Along with New Jersey, New York, and Deleware!!

Debbie Stabenow (a democrat) took back her senate seat for Michigan and Jennifer Granholm (also a democrat) won her seat back for Governor! they MASSACRED their opponents in the polls lol.

Tennessee's democratic candidate for governor won as well.

i'm glad i did an absentee ballot before i left Michigan, voting is important to me and like you Sam, i feel like it paid off this time.
