Playing Her Hand...

The stars began to burn brightly in the sky as night cloaked over the sprawling hills of the French countryside. Down a long meandering road that seemed to lead to nowhere, a bright red ferrari could be seen racing down the path. Inside the car, Rebecca Everhart drove, her manicured red nails tapping on the steering wheel as she zoomed towards her destination. She was getting tired, but more than that, she was getting nervous. Rebecca had seen her fair share of power struggles within The Hellfire Club over the years, but this was something different altogether. No longer was somebody just looking to elevate their position via social politics and a little light manslaughter. These children were looking to turn the club on it's head, oust all in power and make a new set of rules...and after everything Rebecca had been working towards in the years that followed Jean Luc Dupont's death, she knew that it might be time to activate the last ace in the hole that she had.

Speeding like a maniac down the road, she slowly came to a large wrought iron gate with a security key code. She quickly keyed in the code as the doors began to slowly creep open, allowing her to drive forward, past the discreet "Meridian Industries" sign and down to a large facility that resembled something like a gothic psychiatric hospital. In fact, at the turn of the century it HAD been such a place. Now, it had a new purpose altogether. Slamming the door shut on her ferrari, the click clack of her stilleto heels could be heard on the cobblestone drive way as she pulled her red trenchcoat tightly over her body, wrapping the belt around her delicate waist before heading inside of the ominous looking facility.Jean Luc Dupont had purchased the location years ago when he stilled ruled as The Black King. This was where he did his "research" as a brilliant geneticist. This was also where he and the American Doctors of MysTech did their experimentation on Maxine, his daughter. Her padded cell still sat on the fifth floor of the facility, though nobody dared ever go to those floors without some kind of death wish.

Rebecca began to make her way down the halls and into the elevator, before keying in the access code and selecting the FIFTH floor as the large elevator began to make it's way between floors. When the American Doctors made their way back to the states, confident in the research that would help them create what MYSTECH, The European Hellfire Club seemed almost joyous and nonchalant in helping arm another branch of The Hellfire Club with so much potential power. It didn't sit well with Rebecca and it also didn't sit well with Jean Luc Dupont. Fortunately for the both of them, Jean Luc had taken precautions. He had stolen research, he had made copies of everything he could get his hands on, and he was the only person in the club capable of actually putting that information to use...to creating his OWN work in the same vein of Adam Chandler and Christopher Victory. He started Meridian Industries in secret, immediately bringing Rebecca into the fray. Her political connections were endless and she was just as intrigued by this "virus" and what it could mean for the future.

For years, Rebecca and Jean Luc worked together, halting the work of The Hellfire Club in order to give Meridian Industries the advantage it needed. Though the club tried to move forward for years with an actual agenda, Jean Luc and Rebecca knew that they were sitting on real POWER and that once perfected, the other members of The Inner Circle would have no choice but submit to them. When Maxine killed her father in cold blood and Evelyn Pierce secured herself The Black Queen position, things changed drastically. Meridian Industries was still up and running with several talented doctors and scientists throughout the world, but without Jean Luc's brain, progress became
stunted. They had successfully been able to manipulate the virus in animals, and even had successes with human test subjects, but the results were still highly unpredictable. What was more, Rebecca was now alone in The Courts. It was several years later that Rebecca approached Camille Rowe, The White Queen. Though Camille was not a scientist by any means, she was a stalwart ally and she helped those who helped her. Their business relationship was mutually beneficial both inside and outside of The Courts. The two blocked any voting that might impede on their plans and were able to keep their dealings a secret for many years...until Evelyn Pierce began to suspect something.

Rebecca pushed the thoughts outside of her head as the elevator dinged for the fifth floor as the doors slid open to reveal a long and grim hallway, accented with large steel locked doors every few feet. When the facility was a psychiatric hospital, these rooms were where the most clinically insane were held. Those deemed a danger to themselves and others. Walking down these halls always gave Rebecca a chill up her spine, particularly when walking past Cell #4...the one that housed Maxine during her experimentation. She remembered viewing the girl several times during the American/European effort. She watched Maxine, clad in a straight jacket screaming for hours and trying to claw her way out...her strength increasing by the day. She even escaped once...taking seven security guards and one hell of a thorazine drip to placate her. There was so much history within these walls. So much that those even in The Inner Circle and Supreme Council did not know. Now, these cells housed the human test subjects for the T Virus. Some of them successful, some of them kept here only because they could not be unleashed on the public in any capacity...yet. Booming growls and snarls could be heard as the residents of these cells began to BANG on the reinforced and MAGICKALLY protected doors as they sensed Rebecca making her way through the space...their hunger for her flesh compelling them into acts of insanity. The Red Queen remained silent as she made her way down to the last door on the left. This last cell contained the only card that Rebecca had
left to play...a card given to her by a mysterious and unlikely source.

The Seer said:
<< FLASH! >>

Six Months Ago....

<< The sub levels of Meridian Industries was where the real work was done. Incredibly closed off from the rest of the facility with fail safes in place to seal and destroy the entire facility should anything become compromised, it was one of the few places where the doctors of Meridian could experiment with high level doses of the T Virus in various human subjects. >>

<< Rebecca sat in a modern looking test room. Stark white against glass panels wall gave the room an almost fishtank like appeal. She crossed her legs in her chair, at the head of a small steel conference table as two men in white coats flanked either side of her. These men were some of the doctors in charge of research and development. Across the table from Rebecca was a man...well what was left of a man, who had been exposed to an incredibly high dosage of the T Virus. His body had mutated into a zombie like state, now resembling more monster than a man as he screamed with a primal rage and a need to feed. Rebecca eyed the subject closely as she nodded to the men. >>

"Alright boys...let's see if we got this right..."

<< The men walked cautiously over to the snarling beast and carefully injected him with a needle in a double helix shape, containing a mystery serum that Rebecca was banking on to work for her next step in her journey. As soon as the needle is injected the doctors nearly run back to their spot behind Rebecca as the once man now beast begins to convulse heavily and shriek in terror. Rebecca's eyes widen with anticipation as she waits for the serum to go to work. >>

"Come on...come ON!"

<< After several moments, the test subject before her calms down...completely. There is no struggling against his constraints. There is no more screaming. In fact...he is sitting there much like a normal man does in the waiting room of a doctor's office. He appears to be placated. Rebecca's crimson red lips curl up with amusement. In front of her are several rudimentary household objects. A child's toy, a camera, and things of that nature. Slowly, she places her hand on top of the child's toy, a box with several openings for different shapes, often given to children as a way to develop critical thinking and spacial relation skills. She slides the box in front of the man. >>

<< The man curiously eyes the box and picks it up, surveying it up and down before taking the pieces out and like clockwork, putting them back in their correct spots with no trouble at all. >>

Doctor: "We did it...the serum worked!"

"Let's not count our chickens before they hatch, Doctor. This is the seventh patient we've injected with the Marcus Serum...and so far we are zero for six..."

<< A few moments later Rebecca slid a digital camera over to the man. With the same curious nature, the man picked up the camera and was able to turn it on, and even take a picture of himself. The doctors are pleased. >>

Doctor: "Patient shows strength in spatial relations as well as high cognitive function. We believe this dose is enough to allow us to finally give us some maneuverability and control over those we effect. We can start to mold them how we see fit..."

<< The doctors went over to the test subject, satisfied with they had accomplished. As the doctors walked over to the subject, his face watched them with a mix of wild curiosity. >>

"This might be the break we've been looking for. If we can somehow find a way to blend this into the dosage we've been using...we might finally be able to complete a protoype!"

<< Rebecca looked excited for a moment...but only for a moment. In a flash, the test subject launched his hands up with all his force, effectively breaking his chains and causing him to lunge at the doctors with great speed and ferocity. >>

"GAARRAHHHHH!!!!!"

<< The test subject began tearing into the flesh of the doctors as Rebecca rose from her chair and made her way out of the test room, the glass door sealing behind her as she entered a series of numbers into the keypad next to the door. >>

"Contamination Detected. Panic Mode Activate...Destroy all living matter. Sterilize Mode On."

<< A computer like voice filled the test room as one of the doctors was THROWN into the glass, which did not even register it's force. His face was pressed against the glass in a pool of blood as he looked at Rebecca, pleading for help. >>

Doctor: "Rebecca....PLEASE! Help!!!"

<< Soon a noxious cloud of gas began to fill the space as everything faded to white. The gas would render all those in the test room unconscious before it was purged with a mixture of chemicals and fire. Rebecca made a FIST with her hand as she turned around, walking several feet ahead to one of the advanced computer stations, barrelling her hand into the steel table, leaving a DENT as she lifted her hand up. >>

"God DAMMIT!"

<< All at once, Rebecca could hear a swirl of wind around her as the sound of a loud BELL chimed in the distance. In front of her, swirling dark orbs began to manifest. >>

"What the HELL?!"

<< The form of a tall and beautiful woman in a sweeping black robe and long glamourously styled brunette hair appeared before The Red Queen. The woman began to walk closer towards her...her icy blue eyes enveloped in shadows. The closer the woman got to Rebecca, the clearer it became who it was. Rebecca's eyes widened in disbelief. >>

"YOU!? But...how?!"

<< A smiled curled up in the Woman in Shadow's lips as she finally made her way over to Rebecca, placing a hand on her shoulder. Her icy cold hands sent chills up Rebecca's spine. >>

Woman In Shadow: "Why Rebecca Everhart! You look like you've just seen a ghost! However, I can assure you...I am very much...ALIVE...now possibly more so than ever. How are you, Red Queen?"

<< Rebecca began to try and get her composure after seeing somebody she had not seen in a VERY long time and believed to be dead. >>

Rebecca: "I'm...I'm fine...but...what are YOU doing here? Interesting time to make a reappearance don't you think?"

<< The Woman In Shadow began to survey the computer screens around her, checking charts and reading documents, deeply curious about what Rebecca had been accomplishing. In fact, she almost seemed more interested in the work more than Rebecca herself. What was this woman doing here? >>

Woman In Shadow: "On the contrary, Rebecca...I don't think I could have picked a BETTER time to return. It seems our little club has seen it's share of rough times lately hasn't it? All our hard work being threatened by the children we---YOU all created...it's sad really...I would have hoped by now that all of this work would have been put to good use by now...

[surveying a medical chart]

Woman In Shadow: "But after looking at the SLOPPY work being done in this british KNOCK OFF...I'm not surprised. Jean Luc Dupont was a brilliant doctor...and not that bad of a lover either...but it's clear that when he died, you lacked the credentials to keep this all afloat. Which is par for the course of The European Hellfire Club, really..."

<< Rebecca rolled her eyes at the woman as she GRABBED the chart from her hand and tossed it to the side ,watching as it smashed against the wall. >>

Rebecca: "Oh piss off, you miserable bitch. You know you're pretty mouthy for somebody with one of the most PATHETIC reputations in ANY branch's history, don't you think? Now WHY the hell did you come here?"

<< The Woman In Shadow looked Rebecca up and down. >>

Woman In Shadow: "My reputation is nothing more than an opportunity for people to underestimate me, Rebecca. I think you'll find that THIS version of me is FAR more effective...with one HELL of a SHORTER fuse...but I really don't have time for any more of this back and forth...and besides, I come bearing gifts...."

<< Rebecca cocked a curious look as The Woman in Shadow faced her once more. >>

Woman In Shadow: "If you'll remember...my VISION is always 20/20 and from what i've seen brewing around here...well it seems as if a rebellion is coming. Evelyn knows what you're up to and it's only a matter of time before she brings all of this crashing down around you...I'm here to lend you a hand...call me nostalgic but I remember the kind of hard work it takes to work with this virus...and with MysTech all but dismantled in the states...SOMEBODY has to carry on the work, right?"

Rebecca: [still unsure of the woman before her]....."yes, of course..."

<< The Woman In Shadow waved her hands as a flurry of dark blue and black orbs swirled in the corner before revealing a rather large stasis tube. The glass cover to the tube was frozen over, hiding the identity of the person inside. >>

Woman In Shadow: "I'm glad you understand...What I am giving you, Rebecca...is your ace in the hole. While the work Jean Luc did on Maxine was good work...it is UNDERWHELMING when compared to the work that Dr. Marcus was able to pull off.....

<< She began to walk towards the stasis tube, her long silken brown hair flowing behind her as she motioned for Rebecca to follow her. >>

Woman In Shadow: "What I am giving you...is THE ULTIMATE WEAPON to stop what's coming your way. Maxine Dupont is strong and she will spill much blood..but she isn't INDESTRUCTABLE. She is merely ONE DAUGHTER of the virus...but there is another...one FAR MORE depraved and powerful...and SHE is the key to your salvation..."

<< Rebecca walked up to the glass of the stasis tube as she rubbed some of the frost off the glass in order to peer in. A shocked look appeared on her face as she took a few steps back, looking at the woman in shadow in disbelief. >>

Rebecca: "How..how is that even possible?! She...she died?! And WHY are you giving this to me?"

Woman In Shadow: "I must say for somebody who's surrounded herself with science and genetics for the last fifteen years or so, you are INCREDIBLY ignorant when it comes to possibility. This isn't the original...but it's one HELL of a copy....and as for WHY i'm giving it to you..well..I'd say it doesn't really matter does it? You don't really have any other option other than to take it...unless that is..you'd like to be used as a human bowling ball by The Black Knight as well. Consider this an olive branch. Use it wisely....and if you survive this whole ordeal...we will be in touch...Good Luck, Rebecca...."

<< And with that, The Woman In Shadow dissappeared in a display of swirling dark black and blue orbs as Rebecca was left alone in the test room to ponder the gift she had just been given. It was a considerable boost for her current position and if she could learn from this gift...if she could use it to her advantage, she would be stronger than ever. She would FINALLY have the power she needed to take control of The Hellfire Club...but at what cost. The Woman In Shadow had never been somebody she could trust, especially considering where her allegiances used to lie. But who knows...perhaps this unlikely assistance meant that the woman she once knew was different and more willing to work with her than before? Rebecca moved the stasis tube to the fifth floor immediately. >>

The time was now. Rebecca nodded to the two night guards that constantly monitored this cell to go ahead and open the doors. As she walked into the room and towards the stasis tube, she wiped the frost from the glass to reveal the sleeping face of her only option left. She began to type in a series of numbers that would begin the re-stasis process and essentially thaw the weapon back into life. Rebecca waited with baited breath as life began to flow back into the body of the woman in the tube.

"Time to wake up, Jessica....We've got work to do...."

Lord Ravena said:
Lord Ravena revealed no emotion as the reports came in, first of Juliette's death and next of the White King preparing for war. And now, the eyes turned to him. What next?

Lord Ravena stood quickly, his gaze first meeting with Archer Fairchild.

"You have done what you could; war is as it often is: chaotic. The loss of Juliette was a blow indeed. Dormez bien joli cygne. La mort n'est que le début."

Lord Ravena went silent for a moment before continuing.

"All will be as it was supposed to be. Juliette's place as White Queen will remain vacant...I will not allow anyone else to hold it after this is done."

Archer pondered for a moment as Lord Ravena spoke. This would mean that The White Court would have a king? Or not be ruled at all? With everything going on it was looking more and more like The Hellfire Club might simply not exist by the morning...at ALL.

Lord Ravena said:
Next he looked at Archer Fairchild.

You are the only one that Evelyn would have countenanced for King other than...myself. Lead the Black Court with Brienne; her grandmother will support your bid. I will make sure of it.

The elemental nodded. Of all the courts, he was happy to see that at least The Black Court was remaining a united front. The White Court was completely at odds...and in his personal opinion, The Red Court seemed occupied with things other than power. The only one fighting for the life of The Red Court seemed to be Rebecca...and though people liked to count her out, Archer had seen her in battle and she really was not one to be trifled with.

Lord Ravena said:
Lord Ravena had actually been leaning in to look at each person, As he rose to his FULL height, his shadow seemed to CREEP over the entire room. He spoke further.

"Maxine has her own counsel to keep, and she is important in ensuring the strength of the next succession, whoever that may be. If you all hold together and portray strength, Maxine will respect that. As for tonight, all of you rest, revel, whatever you require in order to prepare yourselves. Tomorrow evening, we will go to war. There is no guarantee that everyone in this room will survive, but I promise you that the rewards for those that do will be GLORIOUS."

"That's all well and good...I'm just not sure that we have that kind of time. The Supreme Council and their allies will be ready for us tomorrow...I say our best bet is to come up with a plan and strike them while they suspect it the least. The more time we give them, the less of a benefit it is going to be to us..."

Duke chimed in about Maxine.

Duke said:
He sighed.

“I WISH I had your ‘faith’ in Maxine but…”

He placed a hand on Daniel’s shoulder.

“It’s kind of hard to trust her since she nearly killed OUR Princess AND she actually killed JULIETTE. What’s stopping her from killing ALL of us?”

Lord Ravena said:
He looked back at Duke, unblinking. This one was not a strategist, to be sure. But he was also no fool.

"Even Maxine has her limitations. I am not asking you to BELIEVE in her, I am expecting you to KNOW her and use that knowledge to save yourselves. I will never tell you something I do not know and I make no threat I cannot follow through on. Rebecca and Camille are already dead women; the trick is whether you have what it takes to end their reign or NOT."

Duke said:
Alec fought the urge to roll his eyes. He wasn’t stupid. He just didn’t trust the psychotic bitch who nearly killed Bretta and somehow managed to kill-kill the vampire Juliette. He waved his hand in a dismissive manner.

“Fine, fine.”

"The wildcard is going to be Liam...he COVETED Juliette...in a creepy kind of way. When he gets to that estate and finds her dead? He's going to lose it...maybe that's our opportunity to get the council to fight amongst themselves..Liam will be looking for her killer and if we lead him to Maxine, he might just end up taking care of our problem for us?"

New Anatolia

Lord Ravena said:
Finally he looked at Daniel Reed.

"It would appear that you have your pick eh? Given the weakness of the White Court I would respectfully request that you make a shift to there to bolster this bid. After we kill everyone who opposes us we must immediately be able to restore order. For that you will be key."

:: Daniel nodded in agreement with Lord Ravena. Though the Lord spoke with so much confidence, so much omniscence, the omega level empath could pick up on the fact that Lord Ravena truly believed the words that he was speaking...and given his advanced age and experience, Daniel Reed was inclined to believe him when he spoke. ::

"I'll do what I must...."

Archer said:
"That's all well and good...I'm just not sure that we have that kind of time. The Supreme Council and their allies will be ready for us tomorrow...I say our best bet is to come up with a plan and strike them while they suspect it the least. The more time we give them, the less of a benefit it is going to be to us..."

"I'm inclined to agree with Archer on this one..Rebecca might be down, but she's not out. What she has been working on is what caused the series of events we are in now. Lord Ravena may be certain of HER death, but from what I know personally of Rebecca...what she is about to bring to that estate has the potential to end ALL of our lives. The longer we wait, the more like sitting ducks we become..."

Archer said:
"The wildcard is going to be Liam...he COVETED Juliette...in a creepy kind of way. When he gets to that estate and finds her dead? He's going to lose it...maybe that's our opportunity to get the council to fight amongst themselves..Liam will be looking for her killer and if we lead him to Maxine, he might just end up taking care of our problem for us?"

:: Daniel nodded. ::

"That is a good option, but chances are Camille could have gotten to him already. Not that she has much sway these days, but her and Rebecca have been CLOSE allies for quite some time...not to mention...she's a metamorph. It would be nothing for her to get Liam to believe that it was one of US who killed Juliette. If she's set loose in the estate and we get separated for ANY reason...she could wreak HAVOC...."

:: thinking for a moment. ::

"STILL...trying to get as many people on Maxine's scent as possible is only going to remove pressure from our ultimate goal...which is to ensure that Rebecca gets the punishment she deserves and that the Supreme Council sees what we've managed to accomplish..."

Well Hello There!

"Don't go planning my funeral just yet boys...you BOTH will still need to survive the night."

:: Maxine stood in the doorway of the room, her arrival unnoticed by anybody else, save for Lord Ravena. She was still adorned in the costume she had prepared earlier and her bloodstained ballgown and face was jarring to say the least. She could SENSE the discomfort that some had at her arrival, specifically Alec and Bretta, who appeared unconscious. Though she still had the same incredibly intimidating persona she always maintained, there was something different about Maxine Dupont. She seemed more at ease, more comfortable in her skin...less nervous and jumpy than usual. ::

"I see The Red Princess is going to make it..."

:: Shooting a glance over towards Archer. ::

"Thanks in LARGE part to you, Mr. Fairchild...thanks for the breeze by the way..it DOES get hot in that dungeon..."

:: The Black Knight dismissed him almost immediately after that. ::

"Well...here's to those who survived the FIRST round of tests provided by yours truly! Here, here!"

:: She laughed as she watched the contorted looks she was getting from the others...not sure if they should attack her. ::

[rolls eyes]"Oh lighten up...I know you're a bunch of Brits but REALLY!"

:: Maxine walked over to Lord Ravena and bowed for a moment with her sword in an old world sort of way, like a knight showing respect to her King. She propped herself up on a table next to him. ::

"What you asked for...has been done, my Lord. I think it's time you go to do what you must. I can take it from here..."

New Anatolia

:: Snatches of memory flickered through Bretta’s mind: Juliette being chained up, Bretta being chained up as well, Maxine attacking them both, Juliette dying… Bretta gave her head a shake. She was still in limbo, the area in which she was in a deep sleep but she was not yet conscious. Her mouth opened and she said one word. ::

“Juliette…!”

:: She whimpered once…and then she slowly came to as she felt somebody shaking her gently. ::

“Wha--? Huh? Where am I?”

:: She opened her eyes to see Alec sitting beside her bed. Her heart dropped. She knew it was ridiculous but she didn’t want to see him just then. The words of Rebecca from her nightmare ran through her mind. I would love to spare your life…but what kind of Queen would I be if I didn’t follow through on my actions? He MADE her become a target of hers. She didn’t understand why Rebecca wanted her dead. Her heart was filled with grief. ::

Alec said:
”You’re in New Anatolia. Archer brought you here. How are you feeling?”

:: Before she could speak, a nurse came in and placed a partition around her bed, presumably so that she could change into some comfy-looking pyjamas she had spotted at the foot of her bed. She looked at Alec again. ::

”Could you please go for a bit? I would like to get dressed.”

:: She didn’t notice the hurt look that appeared on Alec’s face for a second. Nor did she notice how he froze by her bedside when he looked towards the doorway. She didn’t notice the newest visitor to New Anatolia either. She was still out of it. She shoved Alec. ::

“Go!”

:: Alec hesitated before leaving, pulling the partition behind him. Bretta rolled her eyes. She sat up and pushed the blankets off of her. She was in her bra and panties and so she quickly pulled the clothing on and got off of the bed. ::

Must he be so NEEDY?!

:: She pulled back the partition and shoved past Alec, heading straight for Archer. She was still fuzzy and so she didn’t yet see Maxine. She pulled Archer into a hug before letting go and taking his hands in hers. ::

“Thank you, for saving my life.”

:: She JUMPED when she heard Maxine’s voice. She didn’t even know that the psychotic bitch was there. ::

Domino said:
"What you asked for...has been done, my Lord. I think it's time you go to do what you must. I can take it from here..."

:: Bretta stepped closer to Daniel. She wasn’t sure WHY Maxine was there but she didn’t like it. She immediately felt Alec on her other side, his hand protectively on the small of her back. Even though she was a bit miffed at him, and she knew deep down it was ridiculous, she was relieved he was there. Being The Red Princess, The Red Rook and The Red Bishop were HER boys and she was grateful they were both there. ::

*pissed*: “What the FUCK are you doing here Maxine?!”

New Anatolia

Bretta said:
”Juliette…!”

Alec looked up when he heard Bretta’s voice. He turned to look at Archer and Daniel.

“She’s awake, mates.”

He gently started shaking her over and over until she came to and opened her eyes.

Bretta said:
“Wha--? Huh? Where am I?”

“You’re in New Anatolia. How are you feeling?”

Just then, a nurse came in with a partition and set it up around Bretta’s bed. Alec wondered again how everybody knew what everybody was doing. As the nurse left, his eyes widened when he spotted Maxine coming in. He looked over at Bretta, but Bretta hadn’t spotted her yet. He frowned as Maxine made her presence known. Luckily for Bretta, she was still out of it.

Bretta said:
”Could you please go for a bit? I would like to get dressed.”

A hurt look came over Alec. Bretta was dismissing him! He hesitated for a few seconds.

Bretta: “Go!”

He sighed inwardly and did what Bretta asked. He WAS going to tease her about how he had seen everything before but Maxine’s arrival threw him. He drew the partion closer to the bed and stood protectively in front of it. He heard Bretta pull back the partition and he gaped after Bretta as she SHOVED past him heading for Archer. He watched as she thanked the ice elemental for saving her life. He liked the pyjamas they had picked out for Bretta.

Domino said:
"What you asked for...has been done, my Lord. I think it's time you go to do what you must. I can take it from here..."

He took the time to appreciate the view of Bretta's backside - :hehe: - before moving to Bretta's side when she finally heard Maxine's voice and moved closer to Daniel. He immediately placed a hand on Bretta's lower back protectively.

Bretta said:
*pissed*: “What the FUCK are you doing here Maxine?!”

He looked over at The Black Knight. He was wondering the same thing.

Just in time, the Knight arrived. Lord Ravena looked at the mixed bag of shock and wonder on all of the faces in the room and then, he kissed Maxine's forehead tenderly before departing wordlessly. Where he was to be was of the utmost importance and also none of the others' business.

<< ZOOMING in on Viper's body, INTO her body, we see mutated cells, changing, splitting, WARPING...EVERYTHING, EVERY system in her body is now going into OVERDRIVE, having already mutated twice and now running at its upper limit, Viper's physical body, which was at its core a HUMAN MUTANT body infected with the T-Veronica virus, is now TAXED beyond any POSSIBLE point of no return and like ANY system or machine pushed to this point, it goes into MELT DOWN! ZOOMING OUT again

<< VIPER Turns and is now facing ISIS, roaring with a deafening tone that would make the minotaur's of Persephone's native time cower in fear. but her body continues to glow as it now GROWS...and then it begins to RIPPLE. Isis CONTINUES the spell.>>

<< It gives Persephone, Prophet AND MorningStar precious time to recover if only for a moment...>>

[She begins to groan as her eyes flutter more rapidly. She's WAKING UP from what seems like a NEVER ENDING DREAM...A MEMORY!?]

[FLASH!]

VIPER at the hour of her death said:
there is no more driving thought or instinct...only OVER DRIVE AND RAGE...

If Viper could do ONE LAST THING it would be to BITE Isis' HEAD clean off! But she cant! she cant even THINK anymore. SHE is not HERSELF in ANYWAY anymore.

Her BODY grows BEYOND any possible point of sustaining itself and in one TERRIFYING moment, the POWER that she once boasted becomes her own undoing as her body "EXPLODES" in one final H ORRIFIC mutation.

Like any system attempting to relieve PRESSURE at the boiling point, her body now mutates due to her own power being magnified and reflected BACK at her by Isis' spell.

She is now an IT....a MASSIVE BLOB of venomous JELLY with a MASSIVE JAWED mouth like a prehistoric super shark, with massive fanged teeth, ONE bulging, blood shit EYE off centered and TENTACLES.

An impossible BLOB of flesh, SLIME, TEETH, TENTACLES ...it is the Progenitor virus at its WORSE.

It is a thing TOO TERRIFYING to live.

Viper wanted to rule the earth that she sought to remake in her image. and now she was no longer in control of her own body, indeed she had no awareness of who she is or what she was.

The virus that had made her so powerful was now her undoing....power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely....

NO! IT CAN'T END LIKE THIS!?

[She CONVULSES as the last layer of the tube begins to lower. Her vitals are PEAKING NOW. Her power levels already maxing out, much to Rebecca's delight as the energy feedback makes an alarming sound.]

[FLASH!]

The Seer said:
Viper found her END to be more like the one she planned for Haleigh. It was a shocking and most apt irony, one that she was no longer able to comprehend as her humanity and intelligence were all but completely gone by the time she was transformed into her final, most monstrous incarnation courtesy of Isis' spell. In the end, though MorningStar struck a blow of vengeance and "JUSTICE" she ALSO granted Viper a MERCY for how could this CREATURE by the goddess of a new world when she herself was LESS than the creatures she hoped to bring about with her T-VERONICA virus?>>

<< she couldn't have. she couldn't have done ANYTHING. NOTHING could live like that and so MorningStar did more than she realized just now as she unleashed her power against Viper and blasted her over the edge of the rift into the churning molten lava.>>

<< the lava GUSHED up in a chaotic frenzy as it engulfed and SWALLOWED the screaming creature. >>

NO! I'M PERFECT! IT CAN'T END LIKE THIS!

GAHHHHH!!

[She GASPS as her apple green eyes SNAP OPEN, much to Rebecca's delight]

[VIPER AWAKENS! Impossible as it is...SHE IS. SHE EXISTS ONCE MORE in all her BEAUTIFUL MUTANT/T-VERONICA VIRUS GLORY]

[ She SCREAMS and instinctively releases a MASSIVE glowing green hued VENOM BLAST, it's ballistic radius EXPANDS, irradiating the guards that had been flanking the stasis tube and DESTROYING them. But it does not reach Rebecca.]

[ Jessica Marcus, VIPER, is AWAKE!]

[ She drops to the floor, on her knees, breathing heavily as she clutches her chest. Her nude female form is the closest thing to perfection Rebecca has ever seen and just as the Woman in Shadow had declared, her POWER was almost palpable.]

How....

[ She looks up....expecting to be in the Arklay Mansion replica on Sheena Island]

WHERE!?

[She finally spots Rebecca. Her look of disorientation only lasts a few moments before her apple green eyes sparkle and she begins to collect herself, slowly rising to her feet. Her nakedness was of no issue to her. ]

[Her voice was a bit scratchy and shakey at first, but soon, the haunting resonance that it once had returns again as she regains her full senses]

WHO are you!?

[ The images, the MEMORIES of where she was before...the moment of her death...still swirled around in her head, but now it seemed, that perhaps it HAD been all a dream? NO...she knew that wasn't true.]

WHERE ARE THEY[The Six]!?

[ Rebecca would have the critical task of getting Jessica Marcus adjusted and acclimated to THIS time and place QUICKLY if she were to proceed with her urgent plan.]

Bretta: "What the FUCK are you doing here?!"

:: Maxine laughed quietly for a moment as she began to walk towards the group, surveying them with what was becoming her customary predator like gaze. Each of them would notice her different and almost polarizing new look. Though she no longer looked as severe as she had when she first arrived at The Hellfire Estate, she still maintained a rather gothic and haunting persona. She walked closer to Bretta. ::

"It's good to see you too, Bretta. Next time i'll be sure to dig my knife just a little bit deeper. I see you're well taken care of by the frail framed boys of The Red Court. Rebecca would be proud...but try not to forget that without the assistance of a certain ice elemental, you'd be as dead as Juliette is right now...speaking of which..."

:: She turned her icy gaze to Archer Fairchild. He had always been in her peripheral vision since ascending to the rank of The Black Rook. In fact, when Archer first got the bid for Black Rook, it had been Maxine's job, as always, to look into the man. To see if he possessed the skills that Evelyn had been looking for, which fortunately for him he did. Evelyn chose everybody in her court very carefully. Brienne had been chosen for her unique powers as well as her relationship with Cordelia Shaw, the only member of The Supreme Council that Maxine had let live tonight. Archer had been chosen for his extensive connections in the black market as well as for his loyalty. The revenge he exacted after his father's death had been legendary in the UK and Evelyn knew that once he trusted her enough, she would be given that same amount of loyalty back. She faced him, nearly meeting him at his already tall stature and gave a quick smile. ::

"You have proven yourself loyal to the memory of our Black Queen. You didn't enter into this pact with Juliette lightly..you weighed your options and you still had our court's best interest in mind. I respect that...but try and freeze me again, and i'll use your testicles for batting practice...."

:: She spun on the heel of her black combat boot, her silver, bloodstained train following her as she went. ::

"Now...I realize that i've put more than a few of you and your allies through the ringer tonight...and with good reason. My arrival at The Hellfire Estate has not simply been to avenge the death of Evelyn Pierce and restore order to the court. If that had been it, the entire Red and White Courts would have been murdered by now and I would be BATHING in the blood of THAT massacre like Countess Elizabeth Bathory herself..."

[smiling to herself]

"but don't misunderstand me...there is still QUITE a bit of blood left to be spilled, despite what my dress might tell you..I just don't plan on killing ENTIRE courts...."

:: She let out a laugh as she placed the back of her hand on her forehead in a very dramatic souther belle like fashion ::

"I mean...I'm not a COMPLETE monster!"

:: Smoothing out her dress she took a seat in an oversized plush chair, as the silver metallic like material of her dress seemed to contour around her body, draping itself perfectly as she sat. ::

"You've all been left alive either because I have planned it that way all along or because you have passed the series of tests that I have given you. I'll leave you all to decide whether or not you were always part of the plan or if you just happened to show promise in the 11th hour..."

[flashing a devilish smile]

"The time for change has come. Lord Ravena, Evelyn and myself have seen this coming for quite some time..when Evelyn was MURDERED...I came here to New Anatolia...for counsel...as well as approval for what I wanted to do..."

:: She crossed her legs and leaned forward a bit in her chair, taking a far more serious stance as she continued. ::

"I've been stateside several times over the last few years..I managed to make and keep good social ties with the members of the American Branch. These are the people that created MYSTECH, did research the likes of which the world had never seen...the things they have done over the years...well it puts the European branch to shame...when I saw what we COULD be capable of against what we've been doing over the last thirty years, I realized that a new person in a new slot wouldn't be enough...we needed to be PURGED of everything that was holding us back...and after THEY saw NO problem in murdering my Queen...I knew I would have NO problem dispatching ANY NUMBER OF THEM...and tonight?!...I've started..."

:: leaning back ::

"The Supreme Council has met the long end of my sword. In lay man's terms...I've MURDERED them...save for one...Cordelia Shaw, out of respect for The Black Court and because I needed the right person to see what i've done. There is no more body that governs us...for all intents and purposes, we are alone now. No matter what the outcome of tonight...The Hellfire Club will be REBORN from hence forth...."

:: Maxine rose from her chair and began to pace back and forth ::

"The last step in our journey is to ensure the utter destruction of Rebecca Everhart and those she has aligned with...a task that seems easier said than done. As Daniel has mentioned, Rebecca hasn't exactly been forthright with her dealings in recent years...and it's my belief that she DOES have an ace in the hole...a surprise waiting. But...I'm getting ahead of myself..."

[pausing for a moment]

"I know I seem like a righteous hell beast, snarling and foaming at the mouth, killing any and everything I can get my hands on...and for the most part that's TRUE...but I am not going to FORCE any of your hands, and I am not an entirely UNFAIR woman...I'm giving you each an "out"...right here, right now. If there was EVER a time you wished to leave The Hellfire Club, and I don't know...open some kind of bakery, or carry on as some incredibly boring "human"...the time is now. Lord Ravena has assured your safe passage to wherever you choose to go...or you can fight ALONGSIDE me and forge with me a Hellfire Club that strikes fears into the hearts of the governments and organizations that wish us DEAD. The choice...as well as the floor is yours...Which do you choose?"

Rebecca watched with wild fervor as she watches Jessica dispatch the two armed guards with one HELL of a venom blast. She steps back several feet and encases herself in an aura of her own red shroud energy, merely as a defensive move against the young woman's wild and ballistic movements.

She watches as the woman with the green eyes rises to her feet, finally aware of her surroundings.

Jessica: "WHERE?!" WHO are you!? WHERE ARE THEY!?"

The Red Queen paused for a moment as she surveyed the gift that had been given to her by the woman in shadow. It was incredible indeed. A haunting replica of the girl she had heard so much about. The daughter of MysTech itself, the only woman in the world who had complete control over the virus.

"They....are dead. You succeeded, Jessica. Well...not with your original plan of course...but you did manage to show those upstarts just who is boss...The chaotic energies swirling around...all of that RAW POWER in one room...well, it left hardly ANYTHING in tact...my allies and I found you, and we've kept you safe, making sure you were completely healed before awakening you..."

Rebecca went over to the closet that sat in the corner of the room as she opened the door and produced a bright white cotton robe and draped it over the wildly intense woman before her. She had no intentions of losing her cool and she was trying her best to make sure that Jessica stayed placated before sending her on a path of destruction Rebecca had been waiting a LONG time to see.

"I wish I had time to formally welcome you back into the world, My Queen..but alas...there are pressing matters...things that only YOU are able to deal with..."

She stepped away from the woman, still enshrouded in her energy signature.

"You see...somebody has risen from the ashes...and she is attempting to stake claim to a throne that RIGHTFULLY belongs to you....She is in London...at The Hellfire Club Headquarters. She thinks just because she's managed to survive exposure to the virus that she is the rightful heir to the throne of MysTech. I've tried my best to stop her while you've been recuperating, my Queen...but she is too strong..."

Rebecca looked away for a moment.

"I didn't want to wake you up so soon, but she is taking something that belongs to YOU, and you are the only one who can stop her. We need your help, Jessica. We need the Queen of MysTech."

You didn't enter into this pact with Juliette lightly..you weighed your options and you still had our court's best interest in mind. I respect that...but try and freeze me again, and i'll use your testicles for batting practice...."

Archer nodded as he watched Maxine walk around with a kind of confidence he hadn't seen from her. Sure she had always been one to cut off heads and ask questions later, but tonight she seemed...almost more RELAXED than she normally did. Couple that with the fact that she had actually given him a compliment and he was more than confused as to what exactly she was doing here in New Anatolia with them at this moment. It was clear that her and Lord Ravena had some kind of deal worked out...so for now he just listened to her.

The elemental smiled himself as Maxine went on in such a comical way. It was a way that reminded him of Evelyn Pierce. She had definitely had a way with words. She knew her reputation and she used that to inspire as well as strike fear into others in a very perverse and hilarious way. It was good to see that although she was dead, her legacy and her way with others lived on with Maxine Dupont.

"Well there's no bloody going back now, IS there?"

He thought to himself as he swallowed hard on his own spit. Maxine had murdered The Supreme Council and was announcing it in the same way one would announce a new haircut; nonchalant and almost as if it were an afterthought. In reality, this was a complete game changer. There was no more order now. No rules to follow. The power and sway that the other courts may have had was now LOST. It was really everyone for themselves now. A chill went up Archer's spine and for the first time in a long time, the cold pulse did not bring him comfort.

Archer's thoughts went to Juliette for a moment as Maxine spoke. He wondered what the sense in killing her was when it was clear that she was gunning to create change within The Hellfire Club. She was already planning something. Why make such a show of killing her...in fact? Why kill her at ALL? As much as he wanted to believe Maxine's intentions were what she had said...he learned early in life that if given the opportunity, people will lie. They will betray and they will keep their best interests at heart...it was how Archer made his living. He stood from the chair.

"You've given us a lot to think about Maxine...but I can't help but be wary. What was the point of killing Juliette? She WANTED change...in nearly the exact same way you did. She was readily willing to destroy her own court and the others to shake things up...she was a good and STRONG ally for us..."

He caught a glimpse of Bretta out of the corner of his eye and noticed that she was holding on to Daniel’s hand with BOTH of hers. That told him that she was really upset with him. It also told him that she probably knew what had transpired between him and Rebecca. If he was a betting man, and gambling was NOT a pastime of his, he would bet his entire life that MAXINE was the culprit of that piece of information. Knowing what he knew about her father, he knew that she felt sort of betrayed by him.

Damage control then, it would seem. Later.

He made a mental note to pull Bretta aside and hash things out with her. Maxine started talking about her plans for the Hellfire Club and how they were only left standing because SHE had designed it. Alec shook his head. The bitch had some nerve! He wanted to speak up, but he kept quiet and listened as Maxine continued on until…

Alec could’ve said a whole bunch of stuff during Maxine’s speech but he thought it was in his best interest to keep quiet. Not any longer.

“I’m all for fighting for a new Hellfire Club, and I’m all for shaping it into a new AND improved organization. BUT…how are we supposed to trust you? You killed Juliette, who, like Fairchild just mentioned, wanted to bring about change and bring the Club into a new era. Not only did you kill HER, but you nearly killed the Red Princess as well. I’d like to know how we can even trust YOU.”

He felt Bretta stiffen beside him. He sighed.

“The plan won’t work if we can’t even trust our comrade. I’m not saying I want out; quite the opposite really. The majority of us, though, are wary of you. At least, I am wary and I’m willing to bet Bretta is too. How can we be sure you won’t double-cross us in the end?”

He felt Bretta take his hand and squeeze it. Rather than looking at her, he squeezed back. He did not trust Maxine at all.

:: Bretta didn’t speak. Rather, she just narrowed her eyes and glared at the Black Knight. She took Daniel’s hand a gripped it with both of hers. She was still annoyed at Alec but she was glad he was there. She listened as Maxine went on and on about how they were only there because SHE had made it so. ::

Bloody COW!

:: Bretta kept quiet during Maxine’s speech. Actually, she tuned the bitch out and focused on her new look. Bretta had to admit that the girl looked somewhat human and the dress she wore would have been beautiful if not for the dark blood stains on it. She wondered about this new look. What was Maxine playing at? What was her endgame? What was the purpose of her new look? She tuned back in as Maxine was wrapping up her long speech. ::

Even though she knew that Rebecca had placed a target on her with her words, Bretta was on the fence about this. She glimpsed at Alec out of the corner of her eye and then she glimpsed at Daniel out of her other eye. She trusted both of them…but she also trusted Rebecca. She didn’t know what to do. Maxine had said that people were here because she had designed it…but she would’ve DIED if Archer hadn’t saved her. The bitch also said that next time she would dig her knife deeper. She didn’t trust her ONE BIT. She glanced at Daniel and leaned towards him. HE would help her figure this out. Apparently he had defected as well. He could tell her what’s up. :: Maxine had given those in front of her the choice to either walk away unharmed or join her in battle. This was something that had any of them taken the time to consider, was rather meaningful and uncharacteristic of the way that The Black Knight usually conducted her business. You are about to go up against some of the strongest people the Hellfire Club has ever known. People who are FAR beyond what you find yourselves capable of...I needed to drive the point home to you that war is no GAME...it's serious business. There are casualties..some of them LIKEABLE, some of them LEADERS..."

:: She leaned against the wall, propping her high heeled combat boot onto the wall as she laughed for a second. ::

"And for every single person who likes you, there is another here that wishes you dead. I mean, look only at your own relationships. There's love, there is trust, there is discord. Think of this when you go to war next. The White Bishop is DEAD...The White Rook is DEAD, The White Princess is DEAD...and by the end of the night so will The White Queen....There is NO MORE WHITE COURT of which to worry about. I broke up Juliette and Liam before they could take the helm as The White Queen and King and begin the process of petty social politics, gerrymandering and BULLYING the courts have always engaged in during the past. Liam will have to FALL in line if he lives through the night and the courts remain balanced....THAT is what I was thinking of...The future of Hellfire...the FINAL OUTCOME...not the death of a vampire with a sweet smile and a deadly agenda...."

:: Alec began to speak. ::

Alec said:

:: Maxine cast a quick glance at Archer. ::

"So many questions! Tell me Alec...how much did you trust the Queen of whom you've served for how many years now is it?"

:: rising from the wall once again ::

"How can I be sure that you or the dark faerie won't attempt to gut ME in my sleep? You don't, but you also don't have many options now...do you? It's like Hemmingway said...the best way to figure out if you can trust somebody...is to trust them. I could have killed Bretta...[smiling to herself] several times now actually if I wanted to...but I saw something in her...I saw potential, and after I took her to my chambers and pushed her to her limit...I think she started to see it within her as well. Everything I've done...I've done for a reason...You may not like my reasons, but then again...I've given you the opportunity to leave..."

:: Maxine began to make her way to the exit of the door, before turning back and looking at the group. ::

"I'll leave you with this...the only way for ANY of you to survive what is about to fall upon you is to put up one HELL of a fight, and you are being offered the help of a woman who was RAISED at The Hellfire Estate. I know who you are about to face and what it's going to look like better than anybody on this planet. I can make this possible, but i'm not about to try and win a popularity contest. Fight by my side or die in a few hours...I'll be in the armory for those who make the right decision...For those of you that don't, well...it was a pleasure to meet you..."

:: She disappeared through the doorway and began to make her way towards the armory, glancing at one of the large sun dial light clocks that seemed to be alive with magick as she went. The time was becoming near, she just hoped she had prepared everything perfectly according to Lord Ravena's instruction. Only time would tell. She faded away against the shadows as she made her way further through the large and ominous castle of New Anatolia. ::

New Anatolia

"Well...shit is definitely more INTERESTING on the side of the rebellion, that's for sure..."

:: The Red Bishop watched with curious intrigue as Archer and then Alec began to counter The Black Knight with questions of her motives as well as her ability to be trusted. Daniel merely shrugged these doubts off of him. He had nothing against Maxine. She was incredibly aggressive and seemed out of control at times, but Daniel had been able to see a lot of the method to her madness and there was no question...Maxine knew what she was doing before she did it, she just had a knack for being the loudest voice in the room which threw people off guard. ::

:: His omega level abilities as an empath allowed him to pick up on even the most complex of emotions and process them in ways that shocked even him sometimes. As he looked around the room at the people he had chosen to ally himself with, he began to feel and analyze the way they were feeling about the current situation. ::

Bretta: *softly*: ”Can we talk later? Please?”

She grabbed his hand and looked at him very serious with the painstaking almost porcelain doll like beauty she maintained. He nodded and
leaned in closer to her.

"Of course...but we might not have that kind of time..."

:: Bretta was incredibly confused and he could read it as easily as a children's book. Part of her refused to believe the lack of concern that Rebecca

held for her life. Bretta, for as saucy as she liked to appear...was really loyal to Rebecca, and looked up to her even at points in her life. The way her emotions fluxuated almost told a story. After the death of both of her parents, she had been a little lost. Sudden success and a life in the spotlight had been what she wanted, but she felt unprepared. It had been Rebecca who had polished her and shown her how to deal with the things that came her way. In return for Rebecca's tutelage, Bretta remained loyal and trustworthy. She played her part within the courts very well. There was nobody who wished her harm, so for Maxine to come at her so aggressively, she understandably felt taken back by it...but there were new emotions brewing in Bretta that Daniel had been surprised by. She HAD taken what Maxine did to her in the dungeon and applied it. She was scared of the darkness that lived inside of her, but intrigued by where it might take her...excited even. Daniel could sense her resistance to Maxine but she was also interested in the way she had been about Rebecca. There was something that Maxine could teach her and Bretta was figuring out if she had it in her to learn the lesson. ::

"I think she'll make the right choice..."

:: Next Daniel looked around the room until his eyes rested on Archer Fairchild. In his days as a circuit twink, Daniel would have loved to get his hands on Archer Fairchild. Tall, dark, handsome and emotionally unavailable. Daniel loved those kind of men, in a pretty predatory kind of way. He loved being able to show a man just how much he was holding back, how much he was hiding. It brought him a sick sense of satisfaction to mess with the mind's of men who believed themselves to be void of depth or emotion. But Archer intrigued him. His emotions felt as cold as the ice he was able to manifest. Even the sweet moments had an icy bite to them. He really did miss Evelyn Pierce...almost as much as he still missed his adopted father, but he also felt a deep sense of purpose...in both of their deaths. When his father had died, he had risen from those ashes and took over The Fairchild Crime Family. He made into something different altogether. The Fairchild Family was now known globally, and their reach in every facet of crime was unavoidable. He often found solace in revenge and power. Evelyn's death was no different. He ached for a way to prove to her how much he missed her. He ached for a way to carry on her legacy. For all the questions he was asking about Juliette's death, Daniel couldn't help but laugh because it was VERY clear, based on his emotions, that the ice elemental was going to join forces with Maxine Dupont. ::

"He will actually make a damn good King if given the opportunity..."

:: Finally, his glance rested on Alec, who had just chimed in after Archer expressed his concerns. The Red Rook was a wild card. He seemed to not know which direction he was going to walk until he was already on the path. His emotions were incredibly conflicted. Alec liked to play things cool with Bretta because it was easier than facing the fact that because of what he went through as a kid...he never felt capable of love or being loved...not in the way he thought it was supposed to feel like. He was a mess, essentially...and the only one that Daniel wasn't sure would continue on with what was about to happen. Alec was impulsive, and his emotions were preoccupied with feelings of regret for letting Bretta down, and shame for not being able to complete the task that was given to him by Rebecca. Alec didn't like feeling like a failure, especially when his conquests, both physical and sexual were the stuff of legend around The Hellfire Club. He had been hand picked by Rebecca for his ability to be ruthless and as Daniel had watched him over the past several days under Rebecca's orders, Daniel wasn't sure he still had that in him...he just couldn't tell if those feelings were because of Bretta or something else brewing inside of him. ::

:: His thoughts went to Rebecca for a moment, and the relationship that the two of them shared. He had been loyal to her for a long time...as had his family, due to his father being one of the head doctors at Meridian Industries, Rebecca's "playground" so to speak. Dr. Nathan Reed had been one of the only few after the death of Jean Luc Dupont to have success at manipulating the T Virus, and thanks to some fancy footwork on Rebecca's part, many years ago, his family had been uprooted from New York and flown across the pond in order for his father to be closer to the work, and later, as Daniel would learn to keep him away from the eyes of MysTech, who would have surely snatched him up. Daniel had spent most of his life in Prep Schools in the states being a rebellious teenager who refused to move with his parents, before reconnecting with them after college. It was there he got to know The Red Queen for who she was...and as vain and superfluous as she may have seemed, she was equal parts conniving, brilliant and compelling. When she offered him membership to her court, Daniel spent most of his time in the states still as a scout, with Rebecca always wanting a pulse on what was going on across the pond. He found the headlines as they unfolded and used his abilities to make sure he left no tracks. When he thought of betraying her like he was now, he knew that she would understand...because she would do the same thing in his position. Rebecca had always told him that the only currency worth having in this world was power. She also told him above all else to maintain his value. He knew alot about Rebecca and his father's work at Meridian Industries, but he wasn't about to let every marble out of the bag right NOW. That would be stupid. He would continue to play the game in the way that he had been and wait for the right opportunity and the right home. ::

Archer may not have agreed with The Black Knight's methods, but he did respect them. It was something Archer might have done in his own business dealings. The life he lived as almost that of a ghost. He was well known in his own personal business world, but death was always right around the corner...with every decision he made and line that he crossed. You had to constantly be on top of your game, or you would be taken out and replaced with a new monarch. Maxine had showed them the gravity of the situation they were making in an incredibly harsh way, by killing their figurehead, but perhaps this had been yet another test of hers. To see who will still fight with more spotlight turned on them.

Then again, maybe she was a full of shit sociopath with a convincing way to justify her behavior time and time again. Still, this full of shit sociopath seemed to be Archer's best option and he wasn't above trusting her until she proved otherwise. She had left him relatively alone since her arrival and he knew that had something to do with Evelyn, which brought him a small wave of warmth. Evelyn trusted Archer and Maxine in turn would trust him...and if they could both rise from the ashes of what was about to transpire together for HER, Archer would be fine with that.

Though she was a very convincing speaker, there was a large part of Archer that figured he wasn't getting the full story. Her relationship with Lord Ravena for one. How well did they know each other, and what had she set aside for him? The Lion of New Anatolia seemed to be playing a bigger role in this than Archer originally imagined. Still, no matter what scenario he ran through his head, he knew his best option would be to stand by Maxine and the enigmatic Lord.

Soon Alec spoke up expressing his concern in regards to trusting a woman who seemed to have a thirst for killing people in The Inner Circle. Maxine didn't seem phased in the slightest by his questions.

Archer looked at Alec and Bretta as Daniel made his quick exit.

"This is the only shot we've got. I'm not going down without a fight...and if I do die...at least I'll have died for a reason...God knows I've seen and committed enough senseless murder for one lifetime..."

:: With that he made his exit, heading down the labrynth like halls of the castle, headed to the armory behind Maxine and Daniel. He hoped that Bretta and Alec would follow suit. ::

It Will End in Blood...

<< The remaining members of The Inner Circle had a decision to make, one that seemed relatively easy for a few. Others, it was simply not that simple...but one thing was true for everybody. There was no more time to wait around and see where the chips fell. A decision had to be made now, one that could essentially alter or even END their lives. Would Bretta and Alec make the right choice or would they find themselves aligned AGAINST the people they had once caled allies. >>

<< Things were about to get interesting. >>
