Delilah: What were you thinking of, going after Zach like that? Do you think that's going to win you any points with either Haleigh OR Sharon?

:: Cameron frowned for a moment as Delilah grabbed his chin, inspecting for herself, as he applied an ice pack to his lower back. ::

"Honestly Delilah, in that moment, standing there in front of him, I could have given a shit less about Sharon OR Haleigh. Call it childish, call it stupid, I am sure it is both of those things, but there is something about Zach that just sets me OFF..."

:: Leaning back in his chair. ::

"I hate him, Trelaven. I absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt, HATE Zachary Armani. Reason being, he is everything i've never been to Haleigh, and because I can't BLAME Haleigh for loving him. He's a lovable guy.."

:: Cameron stood up for a moment and made his way to the kitchen, grabbing two bottles of water before returning to the living room and handing one to Delilah, sitting once more. ::

"So I know.. I know i'm being obnoxious, but Haleigh.. I really feel, is the love of my life. I know it's weird, we've never been together long enough I guess to figure that out, but I just KNOW. When it comes to Sharon..."

:: He unscrewed the top of the bottle and took a big swig before continuing. ::

"We both know we aren't going to be the love of one another's lives. I know she MORE than ruffles people's feathers, but my interest in her IS genuine. I feel like I get her on some level. I know what it's like to get a second chance in life, granted her experience is worse than mine was, I get what she's going through, and Zach makes Haleigh happy, and as much as it kills me, that ship might have sailed. I have to at least "attempt" to explore other options. But I promise, Scout's honor. No more fighting like that. I've worked too hard to revert to that again.."

:: He awaited his friend's response. ::

apartment 2

[ Sharon listened as Nicolas revealed the nature of her injuries. Not life threatening for someone of her physical constitution and something that Nicolas could help set right. She knew she needed to sit the rest of the evening out for a variety of reasons. She was more ANNOYED than anything else that someone whom she was stronger than had been able to get that kind of hit on her. But Nicolas was right, the two had much in common, including their savage instinct.]

[ As Nicolas appealed to his would be adoptive mother, the mutate closed her eyes and listened. his words were clear, thoughtfull and insightfull. he unknowingly piggy backed on the teachings from the Amazons as they prepared her for her return to "patriarch's world" and he was right.]

[ she couldnt see herself mending fences with haleigh, not while that woman continued to regard her as some substandard species of life...]

I didnt ASK to come back you know...i didnt want to DIE either, but in death...i couldve been with my family....now in life, its all at once, exciting and yet heartache inducing. being what i am now...in the absence of my husband, my son...and gustav. I dont know if i can...ever get over having one life frought with tragedy and success being obliterated, only to be returned to another one without my choosing and now being FREE to plot my own course. without the amazons...without you, morgan, alison, karen and blaze... I dont know what i'd do. I wish Alycia was here... that would help SO MUCH.

Nicolas, that woman [haleigh] doesnt even seem to remember that while I was alive before, i dedicated my life to advocating for mutants, mutates and metahumans. she speaks of me as though im a science project. she uses Zach as some kind of moral trump card when in fact he wasnt even WITH HER exclusively at the time. I didnt even KNOW about the two of them. I have no regrets about what happened between he and i - that was in my FORMER LIFE...but why doesnt HE stand up and set the record STRAIGHT with her? and what business of HER'S is it if Cameron & I spend time together? its INTOLERABLE.

If Zach did not mean anything to you, then there is no need to rub that fact in Haleigh's face. It is no less wrong than the fact that she regards you so poorly, especially when you both have so much in common. In the end, whether you mend fences or not, you will do no one any favors killing each other and tearing up Morgan's property. Just think about it, OK? For me?

[ Sharon, breathing much easier, sighed and relented, nodding affirmative that she would NOT attempt to murder Haleigh or risk damaging Morgan's property, for THAT (the property) she felt badly but thankfully Morgan wasnt there to see it. whatever she could set back with her own strength, she would.]

Nicolas stood and readied to leave, kissing Sharon's forehead. the young demigod really did dote on her like a son. He started for the door as he spoke one last time.

You looked beautiful tonight. I almost...expected Father to walk out to greet you...

Nicolas sighed heavily.

...but it was Cameron instead. I don't know his true motives, but I no longer trust them after what just happened. You are an adult and I cannot make you do anything, but I am asking you: BE CAREFUL. Because I am trying to keep my own demons at bay and if he hurts you to spite Haleigh...I fear that I do not know what will happen.

Nicolas opens the door.

Good night Sharon. If you need me, I will be there.

Thank you, Nicolas. and dont worry, I'm not some silly little girl. I was married and with a child while Cameron was still running around in diapers. He cant "run game" on me. Still, for a MOMENT the idea of enjoying the company of a handsome younger man did appeal to me.

[Smiling as Nicolas frowned a bit, as a son would do :p ]

good night Nicolas. Thank you for helping me. See you tomorrow.

[ Sharon said in a softer tone, as he bid her farewell for the evening, and she swung her legs up onto the couch as she laid back and allowed herself time to settle and clear her mind, thinking about what Nicolas had said, going back to what the Amazons said...and wondering if Cameron really DID have a place in her new life as a "friend" or if it was better that she regard him only as a team mate and nothing more. she had something few people got, a 2nd chance. she wasnt going to let someone's petty mindset like Haleigh stop her from prooving people who thought of her as "monster" wrong. actions DID speak louder than words.]

[ tomorrow was another day, one with untold surprises for her and the rest of the team. ]

“You can’t let Zach get under your skin like that. You can’t let him bait you.”

She said thanks as she took the bottle of water from Cameron and twisted off the cap.

“What do you want, Cameron?”

She took a sip with one hand, gesturing with the other.

“What do you really want? It’s not fair to Sharon if you’re just pining after Haleigh while you’re with her. Do you even want to get back with Haleigh? Regardless, if all you’re looking for from Sharon is companionship, you better make damn sure she knows that. Don’t pull a Nicolas and as soon as Haleigh’s free again, ditch Sharon. Even I won’t like you then.”

She took another long drink from the bottle, then screwed the cap back on. She sighed.

“Caneron, you have to figure yourself out before you can be with someone else.”

She stood up.

“Thanks for the water.”

She opened the door and started to go, then turned back.

“You’ll figure it out, Cam, don’t worry.”

She gave him a little smile and walked back to her own door.

Nicolas closes the door and takes a step, leaping HIGH into the air, using his power to propel himself upwards, to where the air was nonexistent and very cold.

It was in this scene, with the stars before him at the edge of space, that Nicolas crossed his legs and looked upward.

His FATHER. It was times like this when he missed him SO much. His Father had taught him to fight, know and analyze his own abilities, even command a ballroom, Courtroom OR conference room. But he'd forgotten one thing.

He hadn't taught Nicolas how to live without him.

And it was at times like this, seeing Sharon so beautiful and then seeing CAMERON, that he missed him MOST. He was like any son would be when their widowed mother picks up some guy he is not sure about.

His mind, the part that Gustav molded since his infancy, told him to be gracious, stay centered, that he had to know this day was coming.

But his spirit, the part that Gustav also molded but was tainted by Set, boiled under the surface. The thought of Cameron...being with her, touching her, hurting her for Haleigh's sake and standing in Gustav's place was a thought that he could not shake. And inside, a part of him ROARED for blood to satiate his fury.

And so he sat, high above, looking at the stars, wondering how this was all going to work out. He was trying, but it was hard to juggle his emotions at times and he could not afford to hurt any of them again. He did not want to in any case.

He sat there, not cognizant of time or space, suspended as he meditated...

nice, and very reflective. Kudos!
and so

<< How far had Nicolas come since his own recent fall of grace? His behavior tonight was a true indication of that both with the team and in the delicate situation of Haleigh and Sharon. Looking upon her as a mother and she RETURNING that by continuing to keep him as her "son" INSPITE of all that had happened was one of the things that made all the difference for the mutant.>>

<< from the stars above to the now quiet courtyard of the trendy, elegant Melrose place below, tempers settled, but questions remained.>>

<< What WOULD become of the situation involving Haleigh, Zach, Sharon and Cameron? Would cameron heed the warnings of Delilah or risk the wrath of Sharon and Nicolas if he used her? Would Sharon, a woman who had already been a wife, mother and later beloved companion to a true gentleman, allow herself to go anywhere with whatever Cameron was looking for? Would Zach and Haleigh come to full TRUE terms with Zach's past with Sharon and settle things with the mutate?>>

<< even with the change of roster and no threats looming over them at the moment, the Six ALWAYS seemed to have something to face in the way of personal drama and their personal issues could be as deadly, as TOXIC as any OUTSIDE foe. >>

and

<< with Claudia taking time to further repair the bond between herself and Clara which had been damaged by Barbas and the Six, preparing herself for her journey to the airport tomorrow she has all TOO SOON reverted back to her foolish arrogance, thinking that if she could survive Barbas, she could survive anything. She had yet to learn that once she had crossed paths with the Six, her life would NEVER be the same again...just ask Sharon...or ALYCIA.>>

<< and so we watch..>>
