Despite everyone's accusations and barely withheld violence, Gossamer remains stubborn about not disturbing the cocoon. She keeps repeating that to open it now would kill Sydney.

"Soon you will see, soon, very soon!"

Gossamer does allow them to bring the cocoon down from the tree but watches them very carefully. Whatever is happening is at a delicate stage and Gossamer doesn't trust them not to muck things up. Several hours pass as they wait. Noone is feeling able to sleep including Toby who has been up longer than any of them. They remain worried about their friend as well as a return of Them.

As the morning's first rays of sunlight bathe the coccoon, they can all hear a tearing sound coming from within it. Gossamer is beside herself with excitement, flitting all around checking the cocoon, listening and crooning softly. She hushes anyone who talks too loudly. Finally, a louder tearing sound is heard and the webbing parts to reveal a small slender hand with long and very sharp looking fingernails. Gossamer helps to open the cocoon until Syd is completely revealed. She has undergone increadible changes within the cocoon. She is about half her original height. Four beautifully colored wings unfurl from her back as she stretches and rouses fully from her long sleep. Her wings extend behind her and unconsciously she fans them to dry them out. The wings are an irridescent blue and look like a butterfly's. She smiles to see them wafting in the morning light.

"Gossamer, they are just like you promised. They are so beautiful!"

Gossamer giggles at her friend's delight. Everyone else remains in shock but not for long....

:: Kurama is disgusted he will not even look at his once good friend or at Gossamer. If only they had their powers none of this would happen ::

:: Euthalia woke up at Tobias' call. She began to climb down the tree, and wondered where Sydney was. She heard the others persist but remained quiet for a bit, just listening. She then with Maia went up through the coverage daring to cut her out. She stopped with Gossamer's common persists. ::

What could that kill her?

:: She wondered while climbing back down the tree, with the coccoon, and watches until Sydney breaks out of the coccoon. She steps backward her face showing utter shock. ::

"Is that what this was supposed to do?"

:: She asked Gossamer, frowning. So much for trust... she turned their friend into a forest sprite like herself. ::

:: Looks at Syd gobsmacked and then rounds on Gossammer ::

"What the hell have you done!?! You had no right doing that to her...I don't care if she wanted you to, it's not right... how can we trust you now?"

:: Has the urge to grap her and tear her wings from her body. But holds himself back. ::

"How do we get her back?"

Gossamer flits from place to place, hugging herself with happiness aternating with tending to Sydney. She pays little or no heed to what the others are saying about her. What does she care if the others trust her or not. She has a new friend who wants to stay with her!

Sydney looks at the others and shakes her head to clear it. She cannot believe what she is hearing! A bit of the old fire returns to her eyes and she faces her so called friends.

"How Dare You! I chose this no one else, not any of you and not Gossamer! Its nice to finally know what you really think of me! I must be terribly weak willed and easily swayed to choose this, is that it?"

Syd's new wings begin to move in her aggitation and her hands clench and unclench.

"I can't believe that my so called friends would think I was not able to make a decision for myself! I told you all earlier that I was tired of all this, but once again you all simply chose to ignore what I said in favor of whatever you were thinking! When was the last time any of you bothered to ask my opinion on what was going on? Maybe I had some other idea, one that wouldn't have resulted in being stranded here with no magic! Well no one could be bothered to ask and now who has magic and who doesn't? I have wings and can fly! What can any of you do? Teleblink? TK? Nothing, I am powerful here and you are nothing! How does it feel to be the ignored one?"

The others are shocked at Sydney's outburst, if they thought her last one was something, this one is almost totally out of character. Perhaps she had some points to what she was saying but certainly not to the extent that she was screaming at them. Something has changed their friend drastically.

:: Sighing, she shrugged, for once at a loss for something to say. She was shocked by the sudden, drastic change in their friend, and didn't know how to approach it - whether to accept it, or to at least feign acceptance until they could figure out what to do. Finally, she decided to go for the latter option ::

"Syd... nobody is being ignored. I'm sorry you feel that way, but with me coming back from the dead... you know, it wasn't the best time to sit around in a circle making plans. Nobody's going to stop you from doing this if its what you really want, but honey - are you sure? We can get you home, if you want to go there. All we've gotta do is work together on this."

How powerful was Gossammer's mother before she was eaten anyway, Syd?

:: Rama was in disbelief as to what he was hearing. Enough was enough ::

"Syd, calm down and take a deep breath. You knew from the start that there would be hardships. Why are you taking the wimps way out? Who cares about magick? If we were not meant to have any while here then we have to accept it. You could have at least told us of your plans that way we would not be so caught off guard."

:: Kurama sighed and looked to the others ::

"So do you think they will still help us leave? Or are we on our own?"

"Let's hope atleast our former comrade will help and Gossamer too. "

:: She replied to Rama's question. Sydney had a point to what she was saying. She never really had a chance to decide anything for the group, but it was probably to late to say this now. She turned to the two fairies. ::

"Well will you help us?"

"Whatever, she can stay here with mother goose. Like Rama said, we all knew from the beginning what we were getting into...things we'd face and have to overcome. Ikaris picked US because he thought we were the strongest, that we wouldn't give up that easily, and just keep on giving it our best. Magick is not all we are, and it sure as hell isn't what makes us, us! I thought you were stronger than that Syd...instead of just giving up who you are and not even telling us."

*She just sighed and shook her head, walking over to the pond as she dipped her hands in, letting the cool water run over them and splashing it on her face as she waited for the others to come up with something.*

Sydney relaxes a bit when it becomes apparent that no one is goingto try to force her to change back at least not for now. She looks at her former comrades and decides that she and Gossmer need to get them on their way so that there is one less worry for the two of them. Strange how her friends seem to have such a problem with her choice, she thinks that SHE would have at least been willing to hear one of them out without getting so upset. She calls Gossamer over to her and explains to the tiny Sprite.

"Gossamer, we should really get them going so that we can relax. I don't fully trust them not to try to change me back. Once they are gone then you and I can play all we want."

Gossamer seems to calm down some herself. She had been worried that Syd's friends would do or say something so that her new friend would leave her. Gossamer knows that until the third and final changing, it was possible to reverse the Change, that is why she kept feeding Syd candies that give her a feeling of euphoria. Gossamer nods and feeding Syd yet another candy, tell everyone to follow them and leads Syd deeper into the forest.

The others gather their things and set out after the sprite. After several hours of steady walking, they come to the edge of the forest. Before them is a hill, the top of which can't be seen from their position. Gossamer points animatedly at the hill.

"Up there, up there, there is the way. You go up there and go away. Hurry, hurry! Travel now!"

She tries to pull Syd back into the forest and leave the others behind. She has done what she said she would and brought them here, they needed to leave the forest. Syd wants to say goodbye to her friends and offers to escort them the rest of the way to the gate. Hugging, Maia and Euthalia, the three walk arm in arm to the crest of the hill, where a picket fence and literal gate stand. Everyone gathers to say their goodbyes or supposed ones as there are several plans to drag Syd into the gate whether or not she wants to go.

Gossamer stops flying in circles and hovers in one spot. She ***** her head for a moment then screams!

"Run! Run, now! They are here!!! They are here!" We must hide!"

She pulls at Syd's hair to try to get her to move as from the far side of the hill come 8 of Them. Eight pony sized beasts, leaping over and under each other in a writhing pattern that seems to draw the eye hypnotically. Their grey scales almost glow in the afternoon sun.....

:: Euthalia smiles as they walk up the hill and say good-bye. Her head suddenly whips around with the scream, seeing the beasts for the first time she ducks down quickly. Ready to defend but not quite ready to attack them. She grips her dagger tightly, watching them, but trying to get her mind back on escaping and running through the gate for safety, but for some reason she can't take her eyes off of them long enough to concentrate on the escaping hoping someone else will. ::

Oh crap. . . The perfect time, NOT to have our powers atleast on the 2 other beasts we had them.

:: Saddened by Syd's close departure, feeling as though, somehow, they had traded one group member for another, she followed a short way behind Maia, Syd and Euthalia as they approached the gate. And in that one, sad, almost picture perfect moment, the stillness was broken by the approach of the beasts, moving fluidly, their forms drawing her eye to them despite the need to get out. A few moments passed where she simply watched them moving towards her, not thinking about running, but finally she closed her eyes, trying to block out the entrancing sight of the beasts racing towards them. Feeling her focus return, she flexed her fingers, feeling and hearing the metal crack. Fully ready to defend herself if need be, still she moves forward, a pace, pulling back on Euthalia's arm ::

"Move! Come on - we might not have a choice soon, but while there's still time, I'd choose running over fighting."

Sati arms herself with her weapons and watches as they begin with glow with magickal energies. She still cannot feel the power within herself but it is certainly present in her weapon. Preparing to defend herself, she becomes very pleased when a bolt of power launches itself towards Them, scattering the pack for a moment and completely breaking the hypnotic pattern They seemed to be weaving.

Seeing what Sati has managed to accomplish, the others draw their weapons as well and find them glowing also. The odds of their being able to fight these creatures off have risen dramatically.

(ooc note: the weapons are only able to produce power bolts they are not able to be used as tk, or any other power)

:: Rama sees the creatures and rolls his eyes they did not look that scary. He then saw the power bolt shoot from Sati's weapon. He smirked and whipped out his whip. Seeing as the bolt came from the one point of her weapon, his had many thorn points on his. He swung the whip above his head and saw that from each tip instead of many power bolts, only one bolt is fired into the mass of the pack, he hopped that this would even the odds ::

"Well seems like Lady Luck is on our side"

The pack begins to froth with anger. If one were paying close attention, they would see the spittle of the creatures withers any plant life that it touches. It becomes clearer what Gossamer meant when she told the group about Them. "if they bite, you die!"

Gossamer is shrieking and flying in tiny circles pulling at anyone who comes near her trying to get them to flee. Where once it would have been possible to retreat into the forest, they find their avenue of retreat now cut off as they are being circled. Whatever these creatures might be, they seem to be a more intellegent animal than one would expect. Not only have They managed to hunt the party, but They anticipated their destination and laid in wait.

Rama is one of the first to notice that the creatures appear to have jaws like snakes that unhinge to create an even larger mouth. He figures that They must swallow their prey whole like a snake would.

:: Rama sees their bolts do little to hinder their movement. He also sees plant life dying as their spit hits the ground. He then notices their snake-like quality of an unhinging jaw ::

"Okay guys, we are so out powered so lets get out of here!"

:: Rama says this as he backflips repeatedly to the gateway and then turns and runs through it but not before yelling ::

"NOW!"

:: Euthalia smiles as the bolts come out of her weapons, but she then remembers the words of Gossamer, about the biting. She sees that Rama saw something and squints at it wondering what made him draw back in fear. Noticing they all have fangs, she sees why Rama seemed to have retreated. She quickly runs after him, ushering the rest of the group along, so they don't lose anyone else. ::

"Hurry up guys!"

:: she yells from behind the gate. ::

*She walked behind the others as they neared the gate and turned around as Gossamer began yelling. Her eyes widened to see a lot more of Them closing in on the group. Just then, bolts flew past her aimed at the creatures, and she spun around, seeing that it came from the weapons. She drew out her short sword from her boot and aimed it at one of the closest beasts to her. She could smell something rotten approaching them, and then noticed it came from the nearby plantlife that was slowly decaying as Them drooled over the stuff.*

"Don't have to tell me twice!"

*She took off running towards the gate, jumping up onto the tree limbs as she swung herself faster towards the exit. Before going through, she stopped and turned around, looking at the others still left, poised with her weapon in case they needed backup.*

"Come on guys, hurry up!"

:: Swings he axe and a couple of bolts fly at one of the creatures that was just about to pounce on him. The bolts hinder the movement of the beast for a second as Tobias runs through the gate. ::

"We need our powers!"

:: He says angrily. He hated running away from a fight. ::

As they run through the gate, there is a moment of disorientation and a feeling of falling, almost as if the ground had dropped away from underneath them. Most start to stumble as the reach the other side, but manage to recover before falling. They can only wonder at what might be happening to their friend who had chosen to remain with Gossamer on the other side. Toby's last sight of Sydney was of her lashing out at the monsters with her enchanted weapon and taking to the air. He knew that if Sydney managed to make it into the air, They would never be able to reach her and she and Gossmer would be safe.

Once on the other side of the gate, everyone starts feeling strange. Where in the forest, they had felt drained, now it seemed that they were extremely energized. They have no chance to explore this feeling or to even find out what it might mean to each of them as they are suddenly faced with one of the creatures from the forest who has followed them through the gate. The creature slowly at first then with more speed, begins to grow, becoming the size of a full grown horse, then that of a car. It continues to grow and hisses loudly at the group.
