This is so bad, so hackneyed that I just want to sit with my head in my hands and sigh for the rest of the day. Why is it so hard to make a female-driven superhero show that isn't... this? Like why can't it ever be remotely serious or at least show promise. Why couldn't Supergirl get to be a little bit fierce? Why must she seem so... hapless?

This is The Devil Wears Prada with a cape and a mini-skirt.

I wasn't jazzed about this from the start but this just made me wonder why making something like this - that might be watchable - seem like it's so hard.


(also can we collectively agree that the "oh now he/she wears glasses so they're a frump or nerd" cliché needs to be put to sleep. It has never been very convincing and it's just getting very, very, very tired.)
 
And IIRC Kara never did the whole "glasses/unattractive" thing?

Mehcad Brooks is the only thing that looked good in that...it's too bad the CW didn't get their hands on this because they might have made it watchable.
 
I'm not a comics snob like the majority of the board - :p - so I think that this looks like a nice, fluff, show. I'd give it a chance.
 
I was like mildly offended by the trailer. It's really shitty that we have the opportunity for a show like this and like you guys said, it's "Devil Wears Prada" with a superhero cape. She only realizes her destiny because Superman wants her to, and she doesn't even get her own cape, she gets his old cape, and it's just like "look at this sad, sad, pathetic mousy woman!" ...I'm really not a fan. lol
