....since the GOP is showing how MASSIVELY incompetent they are in the aftermath their take over of congress in the 2004 election...the president's approval rating is now LOWER than any other president's rating in recent history, americans are feeling very grim and frustrated about the abuse of power, corruption , fraud and other crimes being committed and EXPOSED on the part of high ranking officials in the president's own cabinet. Major indictments have been handed down to more than a FEW of the president's leading men in congress.

now with the election that just past (tuesday) , democrats experienced small victories in both New Jersey and Virginia for winning the governor seats AND now there's definately one senate seat open that the virginia governor can now fill with the person of his choice (since he vacated his seat to run for governor) this , along with growing public frustration with the way the GOP is handling things could mean a big sweep for the Democrats in next year's election. there will be 36 governor seats open across the country along with the possibility of the balance of power shifting in congress from republican to democrat.

let's face it..whether your a bush supporter or not..SOMETHING has got to give and i think next's years off season election will proove that.

i am wondering what you're thoughts and opinions on this matter are?

Just because the current administration is unequivocably incompetent does not mean necessarily that the next president will be a democrat. Both in 2000 and 2004 the democrats put forward two candidates which were very hard for myself, as a liberal, to back. I'd like to think they've learned their lesson by now and have two great candidates ready but a part of me wonders what horrible pres/vice pres combo they're going to spring on the american public after the primaries are done.

Personally, I'd like to see some fresh young blood in the oval office. John Edwards and Barak Obama are both charming, articulate, intelligent politicians with proven track records and from what I can tell have little to no skeletons in their closet. That's what I'd like to see. Failing that, Howard Dean would be a good choice, as he is an excellent debator and one of the more visible democrats who shows he actually has a backbone.

That said, if John McCain actually gets the GOPs nomination for president I'd vote Republican in a second. He's one of the few politicians I am convinced actually looks at his position as a job in which something is expected of him - results.

In short, 2008 may very well be the year of the democrat, but only if they stop making the same mistake they've made the last two elections.

i think you might have missed what i was saying. NEXT YEAR we have an "off season" election in which MANY state governor seats across the country...not to mention several key seats in the house AND senate are up for grabs. with the lateset scandals involving indictments being handed to the speaker of the house and other key GOP leaders for things including fraud, insider trading, corruption and intelligence leaks its really pissing the american people (the voters) off. already with the elections on november 8th this year both governor seats in virginia and and new jersey were taken over by democrats and youll remember that the governor seat in New Jersey was prematurely vacated by the governor before last who was caught up in a homosexual scandal. HE was a democrate and the voters installed a REPUBLICAN in his place and that republican is now in trouble with the law.

if the majority of the governor seats are filled by democrats not to mention those key spots in the house and senate,. the democrats will have control of congress again and can finally STOP Bush from doing some of the shit he's doing now.

You're right, Spell. I did miss what you were saying (I blame the alcohol). :D

I definitely think it would be a good thing to have some checks and balances for our current President and it definitely seems likely. Hopefully that's what we'll see as time progresses. :)

Oh, and just because I can say it - Orrin Hatch is a tool, thankyou. :D
