Plastic Surgery

I'm interested here everyone's thoughts on plastic surgery... I myself have no problem with it. If I need it and can afford it then I'd get it. As I said in the shoutbox... I will never get implants, but I would get tucks, lifts, and lipo. To me that's putting things back where they belong. I don't have a need for a nose job, but I would get it if I had the need.

I'm wondering what everyone's veiws on the subject are. Would you get it? Do you have any problems with it? Explain your opinions.

I wouldn't do it for myself. I guess being a guy I'm less inclined for plastic surgery to start but even as I'm getting older, on the wrong side of 30 already , I force myself to eat a little healthier and work out a little smarter. I don't knock it for anyone else but it not for me.

i have no problem with plastic surgery. it can help to boost a person's self esteem and let's face it, not everyone is comfortable with their body "as is." some people who watch what they eat and /or exercise may have a flaw that bothers them alot and they should be able to correct it.

at this point in my life, i dont feel i need cosmetic surgery. i'm 29, thin, i take care of myself, exercise, eat healthy and i avoid prolonged exposure to the sun...and my mother has aged very way (looking like she's in her 30's but actually is in her 50's) so i'm hoping i inherit that trait but IF i begin to age and i ever feel that i need plastic surgery (breast lift, face lift whatever) i will definately explore my options. BUT my concerns are always "am i getting the best & most qualified doctor"; "what will be the cost".

if anything, i think plastic surgery should be LESS expensive in some cases. procedures that are routine now like nose jobs, eye lifts, lipo-suction etc shouldnt be as expensive because there are alot of people whose lives could be changed and yet they cant afford these things and shows like "extreme makeover" just exacerbate that.

This is purely from a surface level and male perspective on the matter in regards to plastic surgery. I cannot however comment on the issue any more so than an outsider looking in so that is where my comments are made from. It is based on what looks attractive to me:

Like fine wine Women who look after themselves become more attractive with age. I want to emphasise the word ATTRACTIVE.

Yes a 40yr old women may not have the supple body of a 20yr old but she by no means is less attractive or seductive. - In some cases her aged wrinkles and telling features can make a women even more attractive in my eyes. Is my Mother any less prettier than she was when she was 24? No! She does looks older but older doesn't necessarily mean ugly, some people are afraid to age.

I like a natural beauty I like an older lady to look older, it doesn't mean she is anyless pretty. And I don't agree with the barbie doll image. I don't agree with Plastic Surgery for purely cosmetic reasons nor do I understand the need. I like Women warts and all. Human physical-perfection by nature has its flaws its the flaws, the differences and the quirks of the human body that I love the most.

When I'm 50 I don't suddenly want my wife to revert back to how she looks when she was 25. I was attracted to her then that doesn't mean I will be when I'm 50. Who I'm attracted too evolves with me, when I was 16 I found 16yr old girls attractive now that I'm 24 I don't find 16yr old girls attractive (they can be pretty but not attractive) attraction is so much more than looks. I don't agree with the eternally young philosophy, I follow the aging with dignity philosophy, because I think that is the best way to retain youth.

I can see why some women would want it for 'real' self esteem issues like putting right a physical deformaties. But I don't understand some women who want to go from an A/B cup (which in my eyes is fine and still looks good physically) to a D cup. From my male perspective that is just a person trying to conform to social standard that doesn't exist. However that is a surface level perspective and do not judge people who want cosmetic surgery to simply look better because I cannot possibly know the introspective riders that lead a person to want it.

I am by no means trying to tell Women what to do with PLASTIC SURGERY. If my partner wanted it I would support her undoubtably. However if she asked my views I would tell her the above. If she still wanted Plastic Surgery I would still support her. - It would be something for her that pleases her not something for me. I would never demand that from a woman. As a Man (this I think is a standard of British Society) I don't think there is any need for me to have Plastic Surgery unless to right a disfigurement.

As I said for myself I don’t think I need it and probably would not even if I thought I could use it. I would support just about anyone who thought they did, obviously if someone as thin as the Olsen twins thought they needed lipo I’d point them towards a therapist first but otherwise I’d help. My future sister in-law just got work done and my fiancé if you ask her will say she needs the ‘works’ which I disagree but she feels strongly about it so I support her.

That said I think as whole society pushes body types on us that is unrealistic. Barbie would missing a set of ribs if she were real, and He-Man has so many muscles he’d practically be immobile for lack of flexibility. Women have and still do feel the pressure more so than men but as a 33 year old man still trying to retain the 18 year old gymnast body I used to have instead the beer gut I’m developing feel the pressure also.

200 years ago the ideal woman was a little on the plump side now it’s a stick figure that smiles. Honestly people talk about Nicole Kidman or Paris Hilton being beautiful and all I want to do is feed them. Yet I wish I looked like Adrian Paul or Tyson Beckford so what can I truly say that will not make me look like a hypocrite. A guy I used to hang with got lipo on his stomach to get six-pack, which didn’t look bad but it just goes to show that men feel the pressure also. There was a girl on some show that got breast implants for 16th birthday! WTF?!? Try and build confidence in your children and tell them they are fine/beautiful the way they are, but the fork out a fortune for implants on a body that isn’t even done developing, it just sends conflicting signals.

I like anyone want people to feel comfortable the way they are, yet how do we resolve the self-esteem issues most of us seem to have and not waste time on trying to obtain a mythical ideal of appearance. We would certainly support a loved one that felt they need some change but yet we love these people the way they are. Which comes first self esteem in loving yourself and the way you are or the comfort of looking like an ideal?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with plastic surgery but my only qualm is breast implants. I can’t stand when you see women with either an A cup to a C cup wanting breast implants. I’ve always been well endowed, I can thank my grandmother and my mother. But there are serious risks to getting them, including backaches with other health risks. However, to each their own. I never understood why any woman with a healthy C cup would want this procedure, especially because they have an amble chest.

Anyway, if I had the option of plastic surgery I would do it. I would get everything Siren spoke of, if I could afford it. But, like Farrah I would wonder if I received the best medical care or if I would end up looking like a nightmare at the end of the operation.
Other than that, I’d be open to it.
