Tom Hiddleston for Sherlock?

It has been a rumour that has bounced about for part of the year. The third Holmes brother was hinted at in the finale.

I do have to disagree with the writer who said Martin Freeman was not so well known prior to Sherlock. Ben, perhaps to an extent. Would this happen? Honestly, I don't know, however the seasons that we get are more like mini movies so it is entirely feasible to have some of Tom's magnitude given his run in the theatre recently.

What I would give to see him act against Sherlock.

What if it turns out like what happened when they cast Lori Loughlin as the Black Canary on BoP & she TOTALLY stole the show from the main star of the series? lol!

Hiddleston no doubt has a huge fan following now (if he didn't before) due to his role of Loki & like the article says, fans may tune in JUST to say him but wont stick around after he's gone.

My bias aside I think there are pros and cons to it as the article looks at - though i'd have to point out as much as that site amuses me I don't tend to rate their writing skills. The main con would be the fact that a third Holmes brother is not in the book and people get precious about that, for good reason.

Hiddles has a pretty massive fan base, but a lot of them are also fans of Sherlock and Benedict, it tends to cross. The show in itself is sheer genius, have you seen it?

I do have a feeling that this might actually be the last seasons given the rise of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. That is one of the main reasons why the seasons are so short and we have to wait so long. Though I would rather wait those two years to find out what happened than have nothing at all.

I think it all depends on how much Ben still likes playing the character - with so few episodes per season it's something he could do for a good while as a side project. And as long as the Moff & Mark Gatiss are doing the writing - if they go, I think he would too.

I like to think that he would, you can see it within the pair of them and the writing team that they have so much fun doing what they are doing. It shows and that is the important thing.
