The fact that Blaze didn't fight being helped was alarmingly telling... and Haleigh can do naught but watch as Cameron is struck down next. Hales, almost certain it is now her turn, instinctively -- and strangely uncharacteristically-- moves to shield Blaze from Morgan. Its a move of protection that Haleigh mightve done YEARS ago... but in the moment she works on pure adrenaline and impulse, and for some reason she doesnt want Blaze to get hit twice with the wrath of Morgan. Hales stands her full height, even with Blaze leaning on her, as she braces herself for Morgan's next blow... but it never comes, THANKFULLY... as if they'd ALL been knocked off their feet... Rachel couldve just murdered them all in the hall, which is where they all appeared next. It was the second time of the day Haleigh'd escaped Morgan's penthouse unscathed.... and just barely so. Haleigh looked at the girl... no words... just a 'you and i were lucky not to get any of that--trust me' look... She grimaces as Blaze tries to spit and instead cries out, and she wraps her arm around fox's waist and looks at her jaw, touching it tenderly.
"Okay, don't DO that... just hang on... lets get you back to my place.... yes... i see him--dont speak."
Haleigh walks blaze over to the opening elevator, stopping as they pass Cameron to take him by one ankle and drag him along into the elevator.
"You two, Dr. Gray."
Haleigh was still skeptical about this girl... something was amiss... but she couldnt place it and didnt have the time to waste right now trying. It was a short elevator ride down two stories and Haleigh pulled Cameron into the hall and let him rest there, guiding Blaze to her door and opening it, telling Rachel to follow. As soon as the door opened Echo and Delta came scampering in to greet them... but suddenly they stopped, low growling emitting from their throats... the hair on their back rising on end. Echo protectively barked. H didnt realize they were reacting to Rachel... she didnt have the state of mind to listen to them right now... She put her fingers to her mouth and whistled loudly, calling their attention. They immediately stopped and sat down, looking at Hales.
"Delta, Echo, cut that out! Delta... I need an ice pack. Echo, back up."
Delta left for the kitchen and Echo scooted out of the way as Haleigh took Blaze to the sofa and sat her down. Delta was back quickly as haleigh looked B's jaw over. It was already healing up... but it looked painful and blood was everywhere. Haleigh took off her white button-down... the shoulder and left arm of which was no longer white but red with Blaze's blood. She handed it to Blaze to help soak up some of the blood. Haleigh looked at Rachel, who stood in the archway from the foyer to the living room just kind of watching and not daring to move because Echo sat feet away baring his teeth.
"You-- [pointing to Rachel] sit there. STAY right there." She said firmly, pointing to an armchair that was right across the coffee table, adjacent to a matching black leather love seat. Echo followed her and made sure she'd stay put. Haleigh turned back to blaze... She seemed concerned... it was almost as if EVERY one of the six was revealing sides of themselves that the others hadnt yet seen tonight... and it was a sign none of them would recognize in the craze of things. "Blaze... apply steady pressure with this... itll hurt like hell... but do it anyway." She said, pressing as soft gel ice pack to her jaw. "I'll be right back."
Haleigh went back out into the hall.... Cameron still lay there in his underwear, knocked out cold. Hales pursed her lips... what had HAPPENED up there? They'd always been on edge... but Morgan was usually the last to resort to violence... and against BLAZE? Haleigh lifted Cameron from the floor, cradling him in her arms like he weighed as much as Tinkerbell probably did. She brought him into the penthouse, as Delta responsibly nosed the front door shut. It seemed strange to see Haleigh, fair skinned and physically lean, carrying this full grown man as though he were weightless. She set him gently on the love seat, pulling the dark red woven throw from the back and draping it over his lower half. She went into the kitchen and got a small navy blue wash cloth, wetting it and coming back, perching on the edge of the love seat, wringing water onto his blackened face and wiping gently, trying to wake him. Haleigh looked over at Blaze... asking how it was healing, resorting to sarcasm to try to relieve the tension, which loomed over them all like smothering black smoke.
"Well THAT went well." Haleigh didnt smile... she knew nobody would want words right now... they were all so shocked... and though they didnt realize it... Rachel had REALLY come at an opportune time-- for her true intentions anyway. Hales said nothing to rachel... the LESS that girl knew the better. Delta went over to Blaze and softly rested her head in her lap, looking up at her, trying to comfort her... Echo was silently watching every breath Rachel took like a hawk... but BOTH canines could sense that now was the time to be silent.
