Eye of Fire-A quest

Further back in the rock a cave of moderate size is found, providing some shelter. It is a tight fit for everyone to fit into the cave but with some manuevering they manage. There is room enough to up to 3 to lay down though the rest will only be able to sit. Small bones and bits of fur as well as scales can be seen at the back of the cave.

:: Squeezing into the relative safety of the cave, she glances at the others ::

"Maia, Rama, Tobias... You might want to rest, you never know when that barrier could come in useful again. Meanwhile..."

:: She glances towards the fur and bones... and the scales. Muttering to herself, she glances back to make sure they're all in okay. ::

I don't wanna know where they came from.

:: Resisting the urge to scratch at her arms, she sits back a little ::

"Are any of you starting to get cold? A fire might be useful if we're planning to stay here for a while... the climate seems to be fairly different to how it was when we first arrived, and considering that its spewing acid rain out right now... We have no idea how cold its going to get."

"Your right..."

:: Lies down, but doesn't go to sleep ::

:: Sydney huddled near the group as Tobias, Maia and Kurama held up the barrier.. She indeed was very grateful that they could do that.. Otherwise, who knew what would have happened to the group... Once they found the cave, Syd squeezed into it.. And then looked around noticing the fur, the bones and the scales.. Ugh. ::

Don't even tell me where that came from..

:: She shivers a bit, from disgust.. Not from being cold. Hearing Sati talk about a fire, she glanced at the cave and the size, and then speaks up. ::

"Indeed, a fire would be wonderful.. The only thing is, if we start a fire.. None of us should lie down. That way we aren't to crowded.."

:: She suggests tot he group, as they all were getting crowded into the cave. ::

The acid rain slows to a drizzle then finally tapers off completely. The air outside the cave is filled with heavy fumes that burn the throat and eyes as stray breezes bring them into the cave. It is uncomfortable for a time but finally the gases dissipate. The sun dips down towards the horizon but never falls beneath it. The oppressive heat finally seems to level off and most of the party are able to relax some.

:: Kurama gets into the cave he sits and as Tobias lays down and lowers his part of the barrier Kurama nods and lowers his too. He looks around trying to see what is next on the agenda ::

"Guys it seems the fumes and the rain has stopped, would ya'll like to continue and get away from these bones and fur or stay here for a little longer?"

:: Euthalia watched at Amarisy's waterskin broke. She was going to say something but was cut off by the others. She then stood by and watched as Maia, Sati and Rama filled those buckets with water. She eagerly took a sip out of her own waterskin and ran over to refill it again. ::

Very good I dea

:: She thought, and then was interupted by Kurama's call. She ran behind the telekinetic barrier with the others wondering when they'd find a shelter. And they did. Euthalia walked into it and sat down. ::

Does this mean other people were here a little while ago?

" I think we should continue because, the sooner we get away from this area, the better."

Or atleast I hope.

OOC: Hope I didn't forget to respond to anything.

:: Grimaces at the stench ::

"I think we should get going... I mean the quicker all this is over, the better, right?"

:: Sits up and breathes through his mouth ::

Having survived the acidic rains, the group continues onwards toward the mountain. The cacti are the only living things that are ableto be seen. They appear to be thriving, having grown quickly and are a verdant green. Their spines glisten in the sunlight. Behind and before the party lie outcroppings of rock, some looking fresh and jagged and others appearing more worn and weathered. In the distance, the clouds are seen racing away, bearing liquid death to anyone or anything unwary enough to be caught in the open.

:: As they set off Kurama is in front with his hand on his whip ready for any strike. He sees and is in awe at the new burst of life. ::

"Interesting, theres so much life here, almost too much"

*She runs into the cave and watches as everyone tries to huddle in. She looks around at all the surroundings and surveys everything.*

"Sati's right. You three lay down and rest. You've done a good job already."

*She looked up at Syd's comment and giggled. She begins to cough as she closes her eyes, the fumes passing by her into the cave. The heat pressure lowers down as she takes off her pack and puts it under her so she can sit. As she places the pack down, she notices a note sticking out from it, signed by Ikaris. She leans in towards her pack and towards the wall so no one can see what she's doing and reads the note. Nodding her head, the note suddenly turns into sand, falling through her fingers onto the ground.*

"That's very true, or else we might end up burning ourselves and not being able to get out. It might be better to keep moving, we can cover more ground. But that's only if everyone's relaxed enough to carry on."

*She put on her pack and followed Rama out of the cave, waiting for the others to come out.*

"You're right. It seems just a little too...unreal. Hey Rama, you take the front. I'll stay at the back, just in case anything decides to...follow us up."

" Yeah, thats odd just 5 minutes ago we were in a barren dry land, with only cacti."

:: Euthalia looked around, her dagger was ready in case of a surprise attack. She then looked up at the clouds, hoping they didn't get caught in another acid rainstorm. ::

"Why do some look some rocks look like no one's ever even seen them and others seem so worn?"

:: She questioned the group also thinking to herself about this. ::

:: Syd had slung her pack off her shoulders, while they were in the cave.. However she kept it very near by.. Just in case anything would have ventured into the cave that the party indeed did not want... When she saw Rama and and Amy ready to leave.. She picked herself up, and slung her pack back over onto her shoulders. She then heard Euthalia, and tried to come up with an answer.. ::

"I don't have the slightest idea hun.. Maybe it is some kind of hint.. But beside that, I wouldn't know.."

:: She glanced up at the clouds.. And then contuined to push the group along.. They wouldn't want to get stuck in what ever was up in the clouds. ::

The sun is no longer moving towards the horizon, it begins to climb noticeably in the sky and with its rising comes another increase in temperature. As the sun climbs to a point nearly overhead, the landscape loses the flush of its greenery. The heat which following the rain had been merely uncomfortable, once again is approaching unbearable. It quickly becomes obvious to everyone that any travel in this realm is going to have to be done in stages, from shelter to shelter avoiding the rains and the oppressive heat.

:: Kurama began to feel even hotter, even with his aclimating abilities he becomes a bit dazzed and heads to the nearest shelter. He sits down in the shade and drinks a fourth of his skin. He motions for the others to join. ::

"We need to slow things down a bit. But lets rest for a bit"

:: Breathing heavily, she smiles as Amaris puts some cream on her wounds, fairly relieved. She lowers her part of the Telekinetic barrier and lowers her arms. She ties her hair back into a bun, as the weather increases. Notcing the furs and... scales on the floor, she raises an eyebrow, not even wanting to know where it came from ::

"Rest. Sounds like a good idea right about now..."

:: Maia pulls out her water skin and takes a small sip ::

:: Euthalia fans her faces with ehr hand and takes a sip of her water. The heat was almost unbearable. She continued to climb until it began to rain. She followed Kurama and Maia to the shelter and sat down to recollect her thoughts. ::

"This weather is so unpredictable."

*She watched the sun climb back up the sky, and scratched her head confused. She followed the group to the next rest stop, constantly checking behind them to make sure they weren't going to be attacked by anything in this place. She took off her pack, taking out her skin to drink some water and ate a piece of dried meat. She stood against the rocks so she'd have enough room to keep a look out.*

"You know...i could have sworn the sun had gone down a couple of hours ago. I'm guessing they don't have dark nights around this section, that can potentially help us keep searching. But Rama is right, all these back and forth games with the heat is going to take a lot out of us. Any suggestions?"

As the group rests in the rock's limited shade, Rama notices some strange markings in the stone. It appears almost as if the stone has been gouged in places, and upon closer inspection, small bits of fur and claw are found in the furrows. He starts to mention it to the others but is stopped short by a blood curdling roar. The startled members of the party look around in a panic seeing the two headed saber-toothed tiger moments before the clydesdale sized beast plows into them.........

:: Kurama sees as he puts the skin away some markings, he traces over them and then sees the fur and claw. He begins to say something as he looks into the eyes of a two headed beast. As it plows Rama flips up and onto its back, in a fluid motion he rakes the diamond sharp thorns on his whip along the left neck cutting it and causing massive blood loss. He then flips off and by the others ::

"Finally"
