So, the FIRST thing i notice (& forgot after so much time having passed) is that ORACLE was not around then to narrate or guide the stories. i am SO glad I created "Oracle" was a "watcher" and narrator for the six
I really had to do ALOT of "driving" in my posts w/ Morgan back then & reading it now sometimes detracts from other wise raw and brutal moments that Morgan (& Alison) were famous for.
As i read through these first few threads, I remember how when I started this game, I definitely was picking up with Morgan's life in the AFTERMATH of the horror she endured w/ Valiant, a rpg that I did on another board w/ Heather (Foxfire).
The Six is a spinoff of Valiant but in the years that have passed, we have managed to tie the Six's timeline to MoE as well - starting from the moment Spellbinder made a brief cameo in MoE(when we were still on CB) during the storyline where Black crossed into MoE timeline to attack Darkchilde.
I read through these threads and I see how cold and robotic Alison was. Morgan WAS definitely INSANE but in my mind, that was to be expected after what happend to her in Valiant- the team that took her granted & often mocked her, learning that Blaze was in fact her sister, only to lose her to Black, who turned out to be a creature sent after them by her father. She nearly lost her arm and her life....she went through hell during her final days with Valiant and so in this first story of the Six, she's definiately a walking TRAIN WRECK who reflexively relies on the things about herself that she's always considered to be her STRENGTHS...her ball busting, bitchy persona; her POWER & the willingness to use it to LETHAL extents to protect herself or hold threats at bay; her fashion empire, Illustra.
HALEIGH, who had a horrible life (as we would learn) herself, does a much better job of keeping it together, as she would ALWAYS do as the game progresses. But Haleigh was a woman who was much more in tuned with the "darkness" of the world. The "underside" of things. Where as Morgan was lofty and often was (or perceived herself to be) removed from many things due to her life in Illustra & her status as a witch. I REALLY have to give it to Jessica Hamby. She may have been the strongest player out the gate when this Game/story began. For ME...it had been probably 2-3 yrs since i rp'ed on a board & i can see that i was a bit "rusty" in some of my posting style.
I didn't initially intend for Morgan to be so BLOODTHIRSTY...but it just flowed when this story was unfolding & i thought it worked so i went with it. Looking back on it now though...I can't believe how VIOLENT she was!
Alison and Haleigh, from the BEGINNING had more in common than they realized but on some level they must have seen each other as direct rivals and THREATS which is why Alison was so brutal, using her precognition and other powers to set up Haleigh (and Cameron) to DIE on more than one occassion.
Harbinger TODAY would not do this to a friend. She would consider it unethical...(unless of course it was BISHOP

) but back THEN??? ANYONE who threatened her or morgan was a target. Alison had little tolerance for anyone she perceived as weak or uneducated and you can tell that's what she felt about Cameron. I can read her posts back here & see that she was alternately astonished or INFURIATED by Haleigh, but again...i think those two had much in common even before they understaood that.
Alexis and Cameron come across as "BIG FISH in a small pond"...both were obviously dominant in their career fields & were accustomed to going unchallenged or unchecked. Of all the original Six, these two were the LEAST aware of the supernatural or looming threats around them. They hadn't been on a "team" like Morgan or the military (or something beyond) like Haleigh. Alexis was amusing here- especially w/ her alcoholic tendencies and her obtuse, often intrusive comments. I look at Alexis...and i DEFINITELY read and FEEL "SOAP OPERA DIVA" lol! that's not a bad thing! Sam said to me a long time ago that soaps were where she drew alot of her inspiration for her character play & it shows. Alexis was a MESS but it was in a way that only a soap opera character can pull off. She could still get serious & get things done if she had to.
but Cameron was IMMEDIATELY "THE ONE TO HATE" for me. He just REEKED of wreckless arrogance & an almost pathological drive to be cruel, intolerant and antagonistic. as far as game play goes....he was immediately on a collision course w/ Spellbinder, who was JUST AS MUCH of a "red alert" when it came to anti-social, if not psychotic behavior LOL! Cameron disrespected EVERYONE...whether it was his driver, Morgan, Alison or even ORORO. I think the FIRST person in the six to really put him in his place and he actually shut his mouth was Karen when she first fully appeared in the Six.
the only thing more DEADLY than these individuals was the force that drove them together to survive-Mystech!
I agree w/ Brandon that "Eva Valentine a.k.a. Tempest" was the character we never really got to see unfold and find her space. The fact that she was the "outsider" was part of her draw...but she was starting to shift towards Alison which pissed Cameron and Haleigh off tremendously- as they were actively looking for new recruits to their "Alison and Morgan are snobby bitches and we hate them" party LOL :haha: She predates persephone as the Six's "elemental" and we'll always wonder how she could have grown as a character and in the use of her powers and what kind of connections she would have made w/ her other fledgling team mates.
Inspite of all the major tension and strife amongst the characters, i think it was all organic & happened pretty much the way it should b/c again, w/ this game being conceived as a spin-off of the game where spellbinder and foxfire first originated, picking up in the immediate aftermath of a horrific tragedy for Spell that had left her a complete MESS, i think it wouldve been LESS intriguing & twisted if everyone around Spell were now so well adjusted & looking @ going "oh poor baby" trying to help her.
The fact that everyone was pretty much @ everyone else's throat while Mystech was trying to crush them ALL was what i liked
As to the question of how "out" Mutants were @ this time. Well...in Valiant, which was based in LONDON, mutants were out & government sanctioned. it was the government, responding to Volt (the team leader)'s request for a magick user that prompted them to contact Morgan for recruitment. It was never really explained how THEY knew about her status as a witch though. So in London, Morgan and Blaze could be who they were w/out any worry...but in NYC, in the Six...being an outed mutant as still very much taboo & a career (if not life) killer. Mystech had fanned the flames of anti-mutant hysteria just enough for it to work to their advantage.
I honestly do NOT recall how the idea of making Alison and Cameron be revealed to be brother & sister came about.
Reading through these earlier threads, I can tell some of this stuff i literally made up as i went along. I honestly don't know if THAT was one of those spur of the moment things, or if Brandon or someone else had suggested it...i dont know.
I DO remember you, Vil, asking me if Alison would EVER soften up..even just a bit. I look back on these posts w/ her now & see she was INCREDIBLY cold and robotic. And again...Morgan WAS psychotic, but I think in terms of the character, it was a logical development at that time.
