she was the one (which seems to be generally accepted by the "community at large) to be the female mutant at the end that had Kitty like powers. The one who who grabbed Warren Worthington II with Quill & Arclight. She was disintigrated by Phoenix
Ok this has vanished from my mind for some reason, sorry for being annoying bout it.
Is she the one that hung around with Callisto-not the one with the bad hair that causes shockwaves?

I was surprised at the number of main characters killed off... eventhough Prof. X I suppose technically didn't die. I know they are planning for an X4, but with Jean Grey and Cyclopse gone how are they gonna manage it.... I saw an interview with Hallie and she said that she had absolutely no plans of revising the role of Storm for the next movie if there was one so I suppose they will either have to replace her or just pull some junk....

yes thats her

Bullshit

just to be clear (now that i have seen this piece of garbage movie)

ARCLIGHT is the one who causes shockwaves...and she (in the comics) is a m ember of the Marauders. PSYLOCKE was the one with the purple streak in her hair and as you could see
she did absolutely NOTHING in the film worth noticing

as for everything else...20 years I've been reading the Uncanny X-men...and THIS is the best they could do!? :censored: :lec:

Dark Phoenix...was MILDLY fun to watch. She could have EASILY taken over the film had the story been written in a better manner and i see though Storm did gain MUCH more screen time as well as kicking ass and taking names...it still somehow managed to be ALL ABOUT WOLVERINE, even though he was in the presence of SO MANY characters who were more powerfull than him
Juggernaunt mopped the floor with him; Mageto PLAYED with him like he was a toy; Dark Phoenix SHOULD have obliterated him during the final battle

as far as continuity goes? FORGET ABOUT IT...anyone who follows the comic closely will find themselves feeling like they got DUPED.

there is NO WAY IN HELL that
Wolverine can withstand the power of Dark Phoenix the way he did in this movie

I could have cared LESS about Rogue...she did absolutely NOTHING in ALL THREE FILMS and so for her to
voluntarily get herself depowered
made no difference to me. But i was VERY upset that Mystique was
depowered and taken out of the game so early. SHE could have kicked some major ass herself as she did in the first two films

things i liked:

Storm kicking ass throughout the film and DESTROYING Callisto the way she did; Shadowcat HUMILIATING Juggernaunt and then k.o'ing him; Dark Phoenix destroying Cyclops, Charles Xavier as well as her house and then destroying hundreds of soldiers as well as destroying Alcatraz

that's about it.

on the whole..this movie was GARBAGE.

oh and for those who want to know what happened AFTER the credits roll:

After his death at the hands of Dark Phoenix, Professor X's mind/consciousness has been projected into the body of the man at Dr. Moira Mactaggart's Muir Island research facility. The same man that Professor X was using as an object lesson when lecturing his students earlier on in the film.

Oooooh, okay. So there is room for a 4th installment...although I don't know how they would do that if Halle Berry isn't going to come back as storm, and Magneto, Mystique, and a Rogue (although not so much the latter because I could care less about her) all have been depowered...along with Dark Pheonix and Cyclops dying...the movie will be nothing but teen crap, and oh, Wolverine. :igitt: Although I enjoyed the movie (and the series as a whole), i'm hoping that they leave it at a trilogy...UNLESS of course they repower Magneto, Mystique, and Halle comes back as Storm. lol

yeah they need to just leave it at this and not try to do a fourth. Halle has declared she's DONE playing "super heroine" roles so its unlikely she'd come back. quite honestly i'd be happy if the X-men were never revisited in film AGAIN.

one other thing i DID enjoy:

Shadowcat HUMILIATING the Juggernaut. It was NICE to see them give her at least one shining moment in the film and using her speed, her phasing power and tactical savvy to humble a foe with so much power was quite good. ALTHOUGH in the comics, if Shadowcat were to phase someone's body into the floor and leave them to solidify there...the parts of their body phased into the floor would SHATTER and lead to a PAINFULL death. I guess they didnt want that to happen to juggs in the movie though.

as for Mystique...the ONE THING about her that i noticed was that in the scene where they show her appearing
to work for the government
that put me in the mind of her phase in the Uncanny X-men comic when she worked for the PENTAGON as "Dr. Raven Darkholme". She had a HIGH ranking position in the government and had the same hair/eyecolor as she did in the movie after
her being depowered. only in the comic she still had her powers. "Dr. Raven Darkholme" was one of her MANY aliases
.

I loved Mystique's human form when they depowered her. RR looked beatiful; a hell of a lot better than the blonde haired version back in the second film when she attacked that drunk in the bar. LOL. The dark hair with light eyes matches Mystique's essense a lot better.

Well considering how Catwoman turned out, i'm not surprised Halle doesn't want to do another superhero movie...but with how Storm kicked ass in this movie...

...and how she's taken over running the school, I don't know why Halle wouldn't want to do another run of it if they did decide to make an X4. Now if Storm had the same screen time as she did in the first movie (even the second for that matter), yeah, I could see where Halle was coming from. But the character had a major impact in this film.

Oh well. lol

If Magneto, Mystique & Rogue get their powers back in a 4th film then that would make this film totally meaningless. What would be the point? it would be 10x worse if thats possible. they basically took the plot of the first movie and reversed it. instead of Magneto turning eveyone into mutants they turn the mutants into normal humans. Great idea! speaking of the first film why wouldnt Magneto use that machine from the first movie to excelerate his mutation?

Kitty humiliated the Juggernaut alright but what gets me is he ran head first into the wall and got knocked out. HE WAS WEARING A HELMUT for christs sake!!!

Well I liked the movie last nite:D I take it that the suppression drug that suppose to be a permanent cure wasn't so permanent?

"the cure" was based on the dna of the mutant LEECH. Leech was originally a Morlock (with green skin, alien like eyes, no hair and diminuitive in size) who could cancell out the powers of any mutant near him. but the effect lasted only as long as the mutants whose powers were being cancelled out were in the physical presence of Leech.

I've yet to see this movie, I'm having my doubts, but Jess mentioned she wants to see it when I come down this week to FL.

But with all the spoilers I read (I couldn't help it lol I detest surprises), I kind of want to see it because....

I really can't stand Cyclops and I want to see him die! LOL! I couldn't stand the character in the comics or television series, and the especially in the movies. I'm loving the fact that Dark Phoenix killed him, how fitting lol.
I do think its lame they are de - powering mutants, what's up with that? I would have still liked to have seen Magik. I'm hoping eventually we get to see her, especially since they have Kitty now.

I'm actually glad they introduced her, but I'll have to see the movie sometime. I'm not very keen on Mr. Grammar playing Beast, I thought that was a bad choice. And I never liked Anna to play Rogue, she was far too young.

Did they have the Sentienels in the movie? I know there were rumors. If so, were they at least entertaining?

Heather

Yes there was the HINT of a Sentinel in the movie but only during a "danger room sequence"..and even then it was only its glowing eyes and eventually its head that were shown. not really that impressive

I thought the fim was entertaining. I knew that there was no chance in hell it would be even remotely close to the source material, so any deaths, relationships, powers and plotlines used could pretty much go on any tangent the writers and director wanted.

Personally, I think the movies biggest weakness was a lack of character development. One of the six "main" characters in the movie actually never said a single word.

Even the characters who did see the most screen time somehow felt lacking. Halle Barry just doesn't have an assertive, forceful enough personality to play Storm. She never has.

The best thing about the movie? Gambit wasn't in it. That way my favorite character remains unmolested by a watered-down storyline.

I just saw the movie.... This was the best movie I ever hated!

Spoilers ahead...

Brett Ratner is a piece of SHIT! they totally didnt respect the material OR the characters.
How in the world can they justify killing Off Cyclops, Jean Grey AND Prof.X?? granted Xavier transfers his mind to the body in Moira Macttagerts research center (end of credits surprise). Wasnt The Juggernaut Prof.X's step-brother? They stripped Rogue, Mystique AND Magneto of their powers! WTF??? Look the movie was fun and exciting. action packed and the effects were top notch BUT as a fan i cant state enough how much I HATED this movie

Do you mean to say that in the comics, Cyclops is not killed off though he is killed off in the movie?

Cyclops is killed off in the movie and they dont even let you see it! She kills the love of her life and its seems like just a passing moment.

I liked it, of course I never expect a comic movie to follow source material too closely to begin with. I have to agree with Spellbinder, even though Storm got more screen time and kicked ass, it was still a Wolverine movie.

The movies never held too closely to the books from the start but I didn't mind a lot of that changes anyway. If they tried too hard to follow the comics you would have ended up with another Batman and Robin with way too many hokey comic book stuff being thrown in.

I didn't mind that Juggernaut apparently wasn't related to Chuck at all.

Jean never confirmed that she killed Cyclops for all we know he maybe in the lake himself. She never had a reason to kill him. And Jean couldn't stay dead if you drew her a map.

Chuck can still come back he's just most likely a normal human.

The cure has to be a temporary effect. Mags was stabbed with 4 of them and still moved a chess piece. While Mystique was shot with one. I'd bet money that over time maybe a few months mutant powers would reassert themselves.

The meanest thing in the movie was Magneto writing off Mystique like he did, talk about a lack of loyalty. rat bastard, even Pyro was shocked.

"Oh my stars and garters!";)

"X-Men" Makes A S**tload!

Move over Da Vinci and get set for an "X-Men 4" sooner rather than later it seems as Memorial Day now looks like it'll be the new favourite weekend to open films. "X-Men: The Last Stand" opened on Friday to no new competition, average critical reviews, scathing attacks from its comic book fan base, and one of the more widespread yet relatively subdued marketing campaigns for a blockbuster this month.

The results however paid off... big time. On its first day the third "X-Men" film garnered a jaw-dropping $44.1 million, the second biggest opening day for any film of all time, behind only last year's "Star Wars: Episode III" ($50.0m), and the third highest single day take (behind SW3 and Shrek 2) ever. The amount sits well above the opening day of "X2" ($31.2m) and is more than half again what "The Da Vinci Code" took on its opening day ($28.6m).

The super jump though wasn't going to last, on Saturday the film dropped 30% (every other film in the Top Ten gained 20-40%), but nevertheless still managed a massive $31.8 million. All up the movie looks set to earn just over $100 million for the standard three day weekend and around or over $120 million for the four day holiday. Without question it will be the biggest opening for a Memorial Day weekend ever (thrashing "The Lost World" with $90M for the four days), and its three day total will fit it at around the fifth highest opening weekend of all time position, right next to the last two "Harry Potter" movies.

This opening smash has sent some shock waves throughout the industry in more ways than one. Whilst industry buzz for 'The Last Stand' was mixed and surprisingly quiet, amongst the fan boy community there was a loud amount of negativity from hard core fans who loved the first two films and weren't happy with the way Fox was rushing the project and hired a new director to take over for geek favourite Bryan Singer.

Singer's defection from X3 to "Superman" lead many to speculate that X3 was rushed in order to beat "Superman" to the gate. The massive opening, and to a lesser extent the not too shabby reviews, must seem almost like a vindication for Fox chief Tom Rothman's decision to move ahead so fast. Rothman put the bottom dollar first over the wishes of the X-Men fans, and the results paid off big time for Fox in a big opening weekend at a time when the industry is more desperate than ever for them.

The downside though is a potentially quicker drop-off in repeat business due to the lack of that staple support. The big opening also goes to show that despite various comic book movies flopping lately, if there's a genuine big enough fan base there (ie. Batman, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, etc.) then the money will come raking in no matter what the quality. It also will likely cause people to up their estimates on the opening of "Superman Returns" in June, despite mixed reaction to the trailers and somewhat negative buzz brewing in the industry to the Singer epic. That may change depending upon how the first screenings go in early June.

The weekend wasn't only ruled by the "X-Men". On the limited release front, the Al Gore global warming documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" garnered a staggering $65,000-per-screen opening day - easily the strongest average for a limited release opening this year.
